Qena Governorate Profile

Qena is an agricultural and industrial governorate, total area of cultivated land is 327.8 thousand Feddans, total cropped area 436.0 thousand Feddans and intensification rate is 1.33. The governorate hosts 4 sugar factories, and one spinning and weaving factory.

Population According to population estimates from 2015 the majority of residents in the governorate live in rural areas, out of an estimated 3,045,504 people residing in the governorate, 2,445,051 people (78.6%) live in rural areas. It comprises 11 Marakz, 11 cities, 51 rural local units annexed by 186 villages, and 1633 hamlets. The following cities are located in this governorate:
