PREP FOOTBALL ALL HANDS ON DECK Young CHS receivers may be forced to step up following injuries to Bradley, Williams.

By JORDAN KROEGER [email protected]

First, Jaden Williams went down. Then, Lanadrick Bradley. The rest of Columbia’s receiving corps could be forced to grow up quickly this summer. Williams broke his collarbone in the Tigers’ 49-20 win over Bartram Trail in the spring game last Friday when he was slammed down hard after mak- ing a catch. The rising junior was on deck to play a big role in Columbia’s offense this season following the departures of TJ Jones and Bobby Fulton. So was Bradley, who flashed his athleticism on a one-yard touchdown sweep for the game’s first score. But then the rising senior later injured his knee and left the contest for the rest of the night, his status unknown going into the summer. Those two guys started the game alongside 2020 three-star prospect Marquez Bell, who led Columbia with five catches for 87 yards. “These young guys are going to have to step up,” Columbia coach Brian Allen said. “You hate to be in the situation in your program ever where soph- omores and freshmen are having to play. It should always be your juniors and seniors that are your GARY LLOYD McCULLOUGH/Special to the Reporter Columbia receiver Jaden Williams (1) runs up the field after a catch during the first half against Bartram Trail in the teams’ spring game last Friday.
