.12.2018 NATIONAL started India’s.2018 first ‘fruit train’ with bananas  India‟s first of its kind fruit train was launched from Tadipatri Railway Station in Anantapur district & from Kadapa.11.2018 district of Andhra Pradesh.  This is the first time an entire train carrying a load of 980 metric tonnes of locally grown bananas which has been sent to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNP) in , .  Those bananas will be exported to Iran.  The bananas will be exported under the brand name „Happy Bananas‟. Guntakal Railway division (is one of the four divisions of South Coast Railway zone of the Indian Railways) has loaded bananas for export to West Asian countries from Tadipatri at very first time. Indian Navy conducted coastal security exercise, ‘Matla Abhiyaan’ in , West Bengal  Indian Navy has carried coastal security exercise called, „Matla Abhiyaan‟ at Sunderban region in Kolkata, West Bengal with the aim to create awareness about the coastal security to the local community & understand the navigational complexities in the Sunderban delta waters. 34th Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Surajkund,  President of India Shri. Ram NathKovind inaugurated the 34th edition of Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Haryana.  The Mela is organized by the SurajkundMela Authority & Haryana Tourism in collaboration with Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture and External Affairs.  Surajkund International Crafts Mela (Largest crafts fair in the world) will be held every year at Surajkund in Faridabad district, Haryana. India banned export of all kinds of personal protection equipment  Export of all kinds of personal protection equipment, like clothing and masks for protecting people from airborne particles including coveralls and N95 masks were banned by India with immediate effect. World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2020 in  Shri Prakash Javadekar, the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) was inaugurated World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2020 at New Delhi.  The theme of the summit “Towards 2030 Goals: Making the Decade Count”.  The summit was organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), a research institute specializes in the fields of energy. Mumbai’s Iconic ‘Kala Ghoda Arts Festival’ started  The 21st edition of the 9-day Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (KGAF) 2020, one of the biggest open street arts and cultural festival of India, has begun in Mumbai.  The Kala Ghoda Festival is one of the most-awaited art and cultural festivals which takes place in the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai since 1999 in early February and attracts a wide range of crowd from all across the world.

Union Govt aims to achieve.12.2018 objective of Housing for All by 2022 under PMAY-G  Union Government.2018 aims to achieve the objective of Housing for All by 2022 under Pradhan MantriAwas Yojana -Grameen.  A total of over one .11.2018crore 50 lakh rural houses have been completed in the last five years.  Eligible beneficiaries will get one crore 95 lakh houses in the second phase of the scheme.  The government has set a target of 60 lakh houses for the current financial year.  Pradhan MantriGraminAwaasYojana, Indira AwaasYojana, is a social welfare flagship program, created by the Indian Government. INTERNATIONAL Maldives readmitted and becomes 54th member of Commonwealth of Nations  Maldives joined the Commonwealth in 1982 and withdrew its membership in 2016 by its former President Abdulla Yameen.  Commonwealth of Nations: Thereare 54 countries in the Commonwealth, in Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific. The Commonwealth countries are diverse – they are amongst the world‟s biggest, smallest, richest and poorest countries.  Theme 2020: The theme for the 2020 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), for Commonwealth Day is “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”. India surpassed US to become 2nd largest smartphone market globally  According to the recently released Counterpoint Research‟s Market Monitor service report, India surpassed the United States (US) for the first time to become the 2nd largest smartphone market in the world.  India recorded 158 million shipments in 2019 with 7% year-on-year growth which was mainly due to Chinese smartphone brands that were introduced. The list was topped by China.  Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi topped the smartphone market for the second consecutive year with 28% market share. Xiaomi was followed by South Korean brand Samsung in the 2nd place with 21% market share. 2019 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report (GGTTI)  The 2019 Global Go to Think Tank Index Report (GGTTI), complete ranking report of the world‟s think tank was released by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania, United States (US). The index ranked top think tanks from around the world.  As per the report India‟s Observer Research Foundation (ORF) was ranked at 27th place among 176 global think tanks. BANKING AND ECONOMY NSO revised India’s GDP growth rate for 2018-19 to 6.1% from 6.8%  National Statistics Office (NSO) of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in its 1st revised estimates for Fiscal year-FY19, has revised the India‟s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth rate for the FY 2018-19 to 6.1 % as against the earlier forecast of 6.8 % due to a decrease in mining, manufacturing and agriculture.  NABARD approved loan worth Rs 140 crore at low interest to Punjab Agri Development Bank  The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has given its approval for loan worth Rs 140 crore at low interest rate to Punjab State Agricultural Development Bank (PSADB).  NABARD supervises State Cooperative Banks (StCBs), District Cooperative Central Banks (DCCBs), and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and conducts statutory inspections of these banks. BoM & SBI were only PSBs rated ‘good’ in digital transactions in Dec 2019  According to data released by Government via Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) and State Bank of India (SBI) were the two only Public Sector Banks (PSBs) rated as “good” in digital transactions for December 2019.  The score for an individual bank was given by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) based on various parameters.

Indian Bank launched credit products ‘Corporate Loan’ & ‘Ind Surya Shakthi’ for textile sector  Indian Bank has announced the launch of two tailor made credit productse., Corporate Loan and Ind Surya Shakthi/ Indian Bank Solar which will be available across the country for the benefit of the textile sector.  The products were launched during a meeting with high officials of the textile industry under the Indian Texpreneurs Federation (ITF), in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.  Corporate Loan: Under it, the loans will be offered at affordable interest rates.  Surya Shakthi: It is a term loan to set up roof-top solar power plants for captive consumption.  This loan is expected to boost the renewable energy utilisation culture in the textile sector.
