ZooKeys 923: 15–32. https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.923.48593 Abstract A faunistic and ecological survey was conducted to document the diversity of freshwater atyid shrimps of Dawanshan Island. Two species of Caridina that occur on this island were documented and discussed. One of these, Caridina tetrazona sp. nov. is described and illustrated as new to science. It can be easily distinguished from its congeners based on a combination of characters, which includes a short rostrum, the shape of the endopod of the male first pleopod, the segmental ratios of antennular peduncle and third maxilliped, the slender scaphocerite, and the absence of a median projection on the posterior margin. -

These beds reach their greatest thickness in depressions between topographic highs and thin towards, and finally disappear on, the crests. The early Late Kimmeridgian graded packstone–bindstone alternations represent the earliest plattenkalk occurrence in southern Germany. The undisturbed lamination of the sediment strongly points to oxygen-free conditions on the seafloor and within the sediment, inimical to higher forms of life. The plattenkalk contains a diverse biota of benthic and nektonic organisms. Excavation of a 13 cm thick plattenkalk unit across an area of 80 m2 produced 3500 fossils, which, with the exception of the bivalve Aulacomyella, exhibit a random stratigraphic distribution. Two-thirds of the individuals had a benthic mode of life attached to hard substrate. This seems to contradict the evidence of oxygen-free conditions on the sea floor, such as undisturbed lamination, presence of articulated skeletons, and preservation of soft parts. -

We are pleased and honored to welcome at the Paléospace Museum of Villers-sur-Mer the “6th Symposium on Mesozoic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans”. Villers-sur-Mer is a place universally known by specialists and amateurs of palaeontology due to its famous Vaches Noires cliffs. Villers-sur-Mer has also the distinction of being the only French seaside resort located on the Greenwich Meridian line. The Paléospace is a Museum funded in 2011 with the label Musée de France. Three main animations linked to the Time are presented: palaeontology, astronomy and nature with the neighbouring marsh. The museum is in a constant evolution. For instance, an exhibition specially dedicated to dinosaurs was opened two years ago and a planetarium will open next summer. Every year a very high quality temporary exhibition takes place during the summer period with very numerous animations during all the year. The Paléospace does not stop progressing in term of visitors (56 868 in 2015) and its notoriety is universally recognized both by the other museums as by the scientific community. We are very proud of these unexpected results. We thank the dynamism and the professionalism of the Paléospace team which is at the origin of this very great success. We wish you a very good stay at Villers-sur-Mer, a beautiful visit of the Paléospace and especially an excellent congress. Seven shrimp species ( Aristaeomorpha foliacea , Aristeus antenna - tus , Parapenaeus longirostris , Plesionika edwardsii , Plesionika martia , Pasiphae sivado and Pontocaris lacazei ) were collected as a result of ten trawl operations with a commercial bottom trawl. The most abundant species were P. longirostris (52.06%), A. foliacea (35.64%) and P. edwardsii (9.50%), represent - ing 97.20% of all captured shrimps. The catch per unit eort (CPUE) ranged from 3.094 kg/h to 9.251 kg/h, with an average value of 5.44 ± 2.01 kg/h for shrimps. A total of 37 sh species (28 teleosts and nine elasmobranchs) were captured. The prevailing sh species in catches were Chlorophthalmus agassizi , Merluccius merluccius and Etmopterus spinax in terms of biomass and Helicolenus dactylopterus , Hoplo - stethus mediterraneus , Trachurus trachurus and Lepidopus caudatus in terms of abundance. -

Abstract The complete list of Canarian marine decapods (last update by González & Quiles 2003, popular book) currently com- prises 374 species/subspecies, grouped in 198 genera and 82 families; whereas the Cape Verdean marine decapods (now fully listed for the first time) are represented by 343 species/subspecies with 201 genera and 80 families. Due to changing environmental conditions, in the last decades many subtropical/tropical taxa have reached the coasts of the Canary Islands. Comparing the carcinofaunal composition and their biogeographic components between the Canary and Cape Verde ar- chipelagos would aid in: validating the appropriateness in separating both archipelagos into different ecoregions (Spalding et al. 2007), and understanding faunal movements between areas of benthic habitat. The consistency of both ecoregions is here compared and validated by assembling their decapod crustacean checklists, analysing their taxa composition, gath- ering their bathymetric data, and comparing their biogeographic patterns. Four main evidences (i.e. different taxa; diver- gent taxa composition; different composition of biogeographic patterns; different endemicity rates) support that separation, especially in coastal benthic decapods; and these parametres combined would be used as a valuable tool at comparing biotas from oceanic archipelagos. -

Several hundred adult specimens of crabs and lobster from two tunicate- infested estuaries and Northumberland Strait were examined for epibionts. Small patches of Botrylloides violaceus were found on rock crabs examined from Savage Harbour and a small colony of Botryllus schlosseri was found on one lobster from St. Peters Bay. Lobster and lady crab collected in Northumberland Strait had no attached colonial tunicates but small sea grapes (Molgula sp.) were found attached on the underside of 5.5% of the rock crab and on 2.5% of lobster collected in Northumberland Strait in August 2006. -

(1996). La recente scoperta di un piccolo campione, rivenuto nella Valle del Rio Seazza e in quella del Rio Rovadia, ha permesso un aggiornamento relativo ai crostacei decapodi delle Prealpi Carniche. Gli esemplari studiati sono stati assegnati a Acanthochirana triassica n. sp. (Aegeridae Burkenroad, 1963) e Antrimpos colettoi n. sp. (Penaeidae Rafinesque, 1815). Acanthochirana triassica n. sp. estende il range stratigrafico di questo genere nel Triassico superiore, mentre Antrimpos colettoi n. sp. rappresenta la seconda specie di questo genere segnalata nel Triassico superiore d’Italia. La scoperta di queste due nuove specie incrementa il numero delle specie di peneidi conosciuti nel Norico dell’alta Val Ta- gliamento (Prealpi Carniche settentrionali). Parole chiave: Crustacea, Decapoda, Aegeridae, Penaeidae, Triassico superiore, Prealpi Carniche. Abstract - The decapod crustaceans from the Upper Triassic (Norian) of the Dolomia di Forni Formation were reported by Garassino et al. (1996). The recent discovery of a small sample from this Formation between Seazza and Rovadia brooks allowed updating the decapod assemblages from the Norian of Carnic Pre-Alps. -

Attempts to develop diets for culture of crabs have resulted in a variety of feeds. The absence of suitable feed either pellet or live food which can promote growth and survival is considered to be the most important lacuna in cultivation of crabs. So searching of economically viable feed to optimize the growth and survival in crabs are very much essential. In the present study the weight gain was higher in the crabs offered with Acetes sp. (86 g) followed by clam meat fed animals (47 g). The crabs fed with minimum amount of Acetes sp. (152 g) and maximum of clam meat (182 g). The FCR value was better in Acetes sp. (1.8) fed animal rather than clam meat fed animals (3.8). The survival rate was higher in Acetes sp. fed animals (92%) and lowest survival (72%) was observed in animals fed with clam meat. The survival was reasonable for both the feeds. But higher survival rate was reported in the animals fed with Acetes sp. than that of clam meat.
