Missouri Route 66 Tour October 20, 2019 to October 26, 2019 All registrations must be received 30 days prior to start date. === Dear VCCA Member: Attached is the Registration form and basic information regarding the tour. The tour is limited to the first 25 who register. Registration is not complete until payment is made. The registration fee covers only the three meals provided and NO museums and attractions which have admission fees are included, and you will have to pay at the door. Several locations have provided a discount so be sure to ask for the VCCA rate. I hope the registration is self- explanatory, but if you have questions, please let me know. The speed limit for almost all of the tour is 55 miles an hour with very little Interstate travel. Please indicate if you need trailer parking so I can help arrange that if you want. At the welcoming dinner, there will be tons of stuff provided by the Missouri Division of Tourism about Route 66 and things to do in Missouri. If you want to do some planning before the tour, contact www.visit mo.com or call 1 800 334-6946 and they should get you to the right people or place. I will be happy to help get you the information you want. The tour provides a number of suggestions for one to do on his/her own. If you will indicate what interests you in these options, I will try to organize a group that share the same interest. For example, in Springfield, Cindy and I will probably do Museum on the Square and then Grizzley and the Botanical Garden. I’m happy and Cindy’s happy with easy logistics. On Sunday the 20th, Cindy and I are going to do the Kansas circle and spend some time in Galena and Baxter Springs and Commerce, Ok. We will stop in Riverton at the Nelson General Store which has been and continues to be as in the 1920’s. This will allow a photo opp at the Rainbow Bridge. Any one is welcome to join us. If you are into the paranormal, you could check out the Joplin Spook Light, Pythian Castle, and . Springfield is a hotbed of paranormal “experts” so a program on “Ghosts on Route 66” may be a possibility. The label “Bloody 66” was apparently appropriate. If interested, let me know, and I will see what I can do. There have been card players on both tours we have been on so we will try an voluntary evening agenda. Someone will have cards. Cindy will bring her Ma Jong game in case there are others who play or want to learn. We hope to have the capacity to show episodes of the original Route 66 tv show. Who knows, there may even be popcorn. Pack your vintage clothes in your vintage suitcases. Shine the Chevy. Let’s get some kicks on Route 66. Truman and Cindy Allen. 29 E.
