3 Non

"A non renewable resource is a natural resource that cannot be re-made or re-grown at a scale comparable to its consumption”.

Coal Petroleum Natural Gas

Limited Source : Coal, petroleum, and natural gas are considered nonrenewable because they can not be replenished in a short period of time. These are called fossil fuels. As per the increasing energy demand, we have to look after the renewable sources of energy to meet the demand. Environmental hazard : Using these sources of energy causes hazardous damage to the environment leading to effects of global warming ,acid rain, carbon dioxide emission, health hazards and other impacts

4 Hence arrives the need for Renewable Energy Renewable Energy

"Renewable Energy is energy that is derived from natural processes that are replenished constantly. In its various forms, it derives directly or indirectly from the sun.”

Solar Wind Hydro Biomass

Abundant source : These are all natural replenishable sources of energy, so all these sources can be effectively utilized to meet the increasing energy demand.

Eco Friendly : Using these renewable sources of energy leads to pollution free, indefinitely sustainable energy.

6 PV Solar Technology Classification

PV Solar Technology

CSi Thin Film Technology Technology

Mono Multi Crystalline crystalline

Amorphous Si PV Cells

CdTe CI GS Technology Technology

7 Technology Selection: We have followed a rigorous process to arrive at C-Si as our preferred technology for this project Crystalline Silicon

Solar PV ✓ Relatively inexpensive as compared with thin film ✓ ✓ Reduction in price of Higher current commercial modules (~65% of total efficiency ✓ Capex). Capex have almost Proven track record of over halved in last 5 years 35 years ✓ ✓ Availability of modules & Lower annual degradation technological improvement vis-à-vis thin film leading to efficient & technologies Solar generation higher capacity modules Crystalline technology Silicon

✓ Most promising of the all the renewable Thin film technologies technologies ✓ GoI target of 100 GW by 2022 ✓ Prone to Transparent ✓ Enabling regulations Conductive Oxide (TCO) such as RPO & RGO corrosion & delamination ✓ Climate change Concentrated ✓ Increased BOS cost sensitivities Solar Power (CSP) associated with thin film ✓ is endowed technologies with lot of sunshine ✓ Very high capex vis-à-vis Solar PV retendering it unviable

Monitoring Performance

Performance Ratio (PR) Three performance parameters may be used to define the overall system performance with respect to the energy production, solar resource, and overall effect of system losses. (IEC 61724)  PV System Yield (Yf) -- Energy Yield : Output (MWh) / Name Plate power (MW)  Reference Yield (Yr) - Actual Irradiation (KWh/m²) / STC irradiation (KW/m²)  Performance Ratio (PR) = Yf / Yr

 What is the PR of a 15 MW Solar-Park produces 75MWh on a day with 6.25 KWh/m² of in-plane insolation? 75/15 X 1/6.25 = 0.8 or 80 % PLF / CUF = 75/( 15*24 ) = 20.8 %

Key Issues: ➢ Calibration of Pyrometer ➢ GHI and Inclined-planed insolation ➢ In-house verification of calibration ➢ Regular cleaning of the glass dome Grass & Weeds inside the Plant
