lPUBLIC 公開 INSPIRATION For our Next Generation Leaders z In Honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month lPUBLIC 公開 Dear Toyota TAASiA Team, May 2020 In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, I wanted to share some reflections and inspirations that may be helpful to you on your professional journey. I just celebrated my z 20th year with Toyota. Time has certainly flown by! I’ve been fortunate to be part of the company as we have grown in sales volume, market share and manufacturing footprint in North America. We’ve overcome major hurdles: the financial crisis in 2008, the massive recall crisis, and the Great East Japan earthquake. As we face this current pandemic crisis, I am confident that we will emerge a stronger, transformed Toyota. We have made great strides after coming together as One Toyota, operating much more seamlessly as we leverage talent and strengths across the organization. I’m proud that TRACEY DOI with the wonderful engagement of TAASiA, WIIT, TODOS, AAC, Spectrum, TVA, YP and many other business partnering groups, that we have a much more inclusive culture that Chief Financial Officer celebrates the diverse thinking and experiences of our 47,000 team members. As you progress through your career, my advice is to surround yourself with talent. Toyota Seek opportunities where you can learn from engaged leaders that care about your development. In turn, nurture your team and invest in a succession plan. The deeper the Asian roots: Japan bench, the easier for you to make a new move. You will naturally grow and flourish through trusted relationships that you build through work, business partnering groups, professional organizations, and volunteering in the community, school and church.

  • Representations of Masculinity in Contemporary Hollywood Comedies a Thesis Presented to the Facult
In the Company of Modern Men: Representations of Masculinity in Contemporary Hollywood Comedies A thesis presented to the faculty of the College of Fine Arts of Ohio University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Master of Arts Nicholas D. Bambach August 2016 © 2016 Nicholas D. Bambach. All Rights Reserved. 2 This thesis titled In the Company of Modern Men: Representations of Masculinity in Contemporary Hollywood Comedies by NICHOLAS D. BAMBACH has been approved for the School of Film and the College of Fine Arts by Ofer Eliaz Assistant Professor of Film Elizabeth Sayrs Interim Dean, College of Fine Arts 3 ABSTRACT BAMBACH, NICHOLAS D., M.A., August 2016, Film In the Company of Modern Men: Representations of Masculinity in Contemporary Hollywood Comedies Director of Thesis: Ofer Eliaz This thesis discusses the increasing visibility of masculine identity in contemporary Hollywood comedies. I examine how shifting developments in economic, societal, cultural, and gender relations impacted the perception of cinematic masculinity. The men, more specifically white and heterosexual, in these films position themselves as victims and, as a result, turn to alternative outlets to ease their frustrations and anxieties. In order to broadly survey the genre of the past two decades, I focus on three consistently popular character tropes in Hollywood comedies: slackers, office workers, and bromantic friendships. All the male characters discussed throughout the thesis are plagued by their innermost anxieties and desires that compromise their gendered identities. However, these films resort to a regressive understanding of masculinity and functions within the dominant heteronormative structures. This thesis demonstrates how Hollywood comedies present a contradictory and multifaceted image of modern masculinity.

  • This Is the End and Parafictional Persona
“Give Me the Seth Rogen Laugh”: This Is the End and Parafictional Persona BRADLEY J. DIXON In the opening scene of This Is the End (2013), Seth Rogen walks through an airport concourse to pick up his old friend, Jay Baruchel, who has just flown in from Canada for a short stay in Los Angeles. After they meet, share a hug, and walk through the airport to begin what Rogen has planned to be “the best weekend ever,” a paparazzo ambushes the pair with a video camera and a spotlight: PAPARAZZO: Hey Seth Rogen, how’s it going man? So, you, like, always play the same guy in every movie. When are you going to do some real acting, man? ROGEN: OK, thank you… PAPARAZZO: Give me something, give me the Seth Rogen laugh. Rogen gives his signature throaty laugh. PAPARAZZO: Seth Rogen, everybody. (Goldberg and Rogen 00:01:40– 00:01:55) From the very first scene, This Is the End wants its audience to know one thing: Rogen and Baruchel are playing themselves. In the film, as in life, the two actors were childhood friends in Canada, came up in television comedy together in the early 2000s, and moved to Los Angeles shortly after finding fame. Baruchel disliked the decadent Hollywood lifestyle and moved back to the comparatively less glamorous life of a working actor in Canada, while Rogen stayed in Los Angeles and became one of the most recognizable faces in comedy. The opening scenes of This Is the End show the pair reconnecting for the first time in over a year.

FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM COGS108 Final Project Group Members: Yanyi Wang Ziwen Zeng Lingfei Lu Yuhan Wang Yuqing Deng Introduction and Background Movie revenue is one of the most important measure of good and bad movies. Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue? What aspects should people put more effort on and what factors should people focus on when they try to higher the revenue of a movie? http://localhost:8888/nbconvert/html/Desktop/MyProjects/Pr_085/FinalProject.ipynb?download=false Page 1 of 62 FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM Hypothesis: We predict that the following factors contribute the most to movie revenue.
