Penthouse Announces Girlfriends Films as DVD Distributor
LOS ANGELES—Penthouse has signed with Girlfriends Films for exclusive worldwide DVD distribution, with titles heading to production in the months ahead.
“When you think about it, Girlfriends Films and Penthouse are on the same page, so to speak,” said Moose, Girlfriends Films’ owner. “The Penthouse brand is all about women, and so are we. With what Kelly Holland has done to preserve the integrity of what Penthouse is all about, we couldn’t be more pleased or proud to have the honor of distributing such a top name in the industry.”
“I have worked with Girlfriends Films for years,” added Penthouse CEO Kelly Holland. “I’ve admired the brand and believe it is one of the great success stories in the adult business. Girlfriends has now become the most successful DVD distributor in the adult business and we are thrilled to have them representing the Penthouse brand.”
Penthouse announced there are a number of DVDs already scheduled for future release, including Corrupted By An Angel by producer and director Joanna Angel. The title enlists an all-star cast of performers, including Angel herself and Penthouse Pets Riley Nixon, Gina Valentina, and Penthouse Pet of the Year Jenna Sativa. This will be Angel’s first time back in the director’s chair, outside of her own company.
“I am thrilled to be working with Girlfriends Films again,” said Penthouse’s Drew Rosenfeld. “Moose and his team have been leaders in our industry through integrity and accomplishment. Penthouse looks forward to a successful, lasting relationship. We’re also honored Joanna Angel chose to celebrate her return to the director’s chair with us.”

Welcome to 2017: A time when women who like other women are defined by several dif- ferent terms, and yet somehow, all of these separate terms still say “I’m a lesbian.” In case you didn’t know, the term lesbian is defined: Lesbian (n) - A homosexual woman. Sounds pretty point blank if you ask me; but if you’re still questioning and unsure of what a homo- sexual is, I’ll help you out: Homosexual (n) - A person who is sexually attracted to people of their own sex. So there we have it: what it means to be a female who likes females. Not so dif- ficult to understand, right? But what happens when we start labeling lesbians further, with names like “butch” and “dyke.” What on earth does it mean to be a “lipstick les- bian”? They’re all lesbians, so why do we subcategorize an already-established category?
Haven’t you heard? Females likes to make things difficult - but of course!
A lipstick lesbian (also referred to as a femme) is generally considered to be a lesbian who favors a glamorous, traditionally feminine style. They are who most people assume to be the submissive ones in the relationship, but speaking from experience, making those assumptions can make an ass out of you fairly quickly. Alternatively, a butch lesbian’s ap- pearance and behavior are seen as traditionally masculine. These lesbians are presumed to be the more dominant, but again, we know what assuming can do. These two types of lesbians, lipstick and butch, are the most straightforward and contrasting types when generalizing the differences within the lesbian community.
Now here’s where it gets more complicated: there are even more terms to add in, a com- mon example being the word “dyke.”
So where does a dyke fit into all of this and how we can we define them? There seems to be a lot of confusion when understanding the difference between butch and dyke, even within the lesbian community. We can all agree that traditionally, heterosexuals have used the term “dyke” offensively, as an insult. The interesting thing is that today, it’s not un- common to hear the term used by lesbians to define other lesbians; although use within the community is widely accepted, it’s hard to place the exact meaning. In fact, I couldn’t really figure it out, so I took the poll to my lesbians friends, and they seemed to be split 50/50. One denotes a more masculine and harsh look/personality while the other is a bit softer – maybe a more masculine look with a more feminine personality. Which is which? We couldn’t all agree. So believe it or not, it’s 2017, and these terms are still constantly evolving, so you can identify yourself however you best see fit - and that’s the magic of the LGBT community. S.tylene
