Tough Road Ahead= for Post-Brexit Horse Transport
SUNDAY, 17 JANUARY 2021 >TOUGH ROAD AHEAD= ABDULLAH=S FAMILY AVERY COMMITTED@ TO JUDDMONTE FOR POST-BREXIT HORSE It will be business at usual at Juddmonte Farms after Juddmonte Group Chief Executive Douglas Erskine Crum told ITV TRANSPORT on Saturday that there will be Ano change@ following the death of the global operation=s founder Prince Khalid Abdullah last week. Abdullah had raced 118 Group or Grade I winners since entering the game just over 40 years ago, of which he bred 102 of those. He owned stud farms in the UK, Ireland and Kentucky. AThe family has been for some time and still is very committed to keeping Juddmonte as it is going, focusing on the broodmare band, focusing on the homebred operation,@ Erskine Crum told ITV Racing. AOne of the last decisions in which the prince was involved was the matings for this year, in other words where his 200-odd broodmares are going to go. Whether they are going to go to Frankel, Kingman or some of the great stallions across the world. Cont. p5 Horse transport between Britain and the EU has become much more complicated | Getty Images By Emma Berry While Britain, Ireland and France are competing nations in the racing and breeding world, in recent years the Tripartite Agreement (TPA) has significantly eased the regular interaction between the three, particularly in regard to transporting broodmares and racehorses. The TPA recognised the high health status of Thoroughbreds and allowed for free equine movement between the countries. All that changed, however, when Britain=s departure from the European Union was finalised with the end of the transition period on Dec. -

Mandaloun Turns the Tables in Risen Star
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2021 MANDALOUN TURNS THE CLAIRIERE A FITTING WINNER OF THE RACHEL ALEXANDRA TABLES IN RISEN STAR Hall of Famer Rachel Alexandra carried the famed burgundy and gold silks of Stonestreet Farm to six victories, four of which were Grade Is, including the GI Preakness S. and GI Woodward S. So, it was only fitting that another filly carrying the colors of Barbara Banke's operation, Clairiere (Curlin), won that Horse of the Year's namesake Grade II race at the Fair Grounds Saturday. The event, which produced GI Kentucky Oaks winners in 2018 and 2019, offered 50 points towards this year's run for the lillies. Clairiere rallied strongly from well back to capture her 1 1/16-mile debut at Churchill Downs Oct. 25. She made another late run for the lead in that venue's GII Golden Rod S. Nov. 28, but was collared by the re-opposing Travel Column (Frosted) and forced to settled for second. Cont. p4 Mandaloun | Hodges IN TDN EUROPE TODAY Mandaloun added yet another feather to his superstar sire CLASSIC SIBLING AWAITED AT HISTORIC ROTTGEN Into Mischief's cap with a victory in Saturday's GII Risen Star S. at Emma Berry speaks with Gestut Rottgen's Frank Dorff on 2021 the Fair Grounds. Addeybb Is the Champion at Last
SUNDAY, 18 OCTOBER 2020 KAMEKO TO TWEENHILLS IN 2021 ADDEYBB IS THE This year=s G1 2000 Guineas scorer Kameko (Kitten=s CHAMPION AT LAST JoyBSweeter Still {Ire}, by Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire})) will retire to Tweenhills Stud upon conclusion of his 3-year-old campaign this year. In addition to the 2000 Guineas, which he won in race record time, Kameko won last year=s G1 Vertem Futurity Trophy. He was fourth in three consecutive Group 1s this summer before besting older horses in the G2 Joel S. and is set to run in the Breeders= Cup. Sheikh Fahad Al-Thani, chairman of Qatar Racing, said, AMy brothers and I are delighted to own another superstar in Kameko, whose record-breaking 2- and 3-year-old campaigns will live long in our memory. We cannot wait to unveil him to breeders.@ Trainer Andrew Balding added, AKameko is without doubt the best horse I=ve trained. He has all the attributes of a top-class miler and is a striking horse to look at. I feel very honoured to Addeybb and Tom Marquand take the Champion S. | PA Media have had the opportunity to train a horse of such class.@ Cont. p13 By Tom Frary All day long at Ascot, it was a case of deep-ground lovers need only apply and one who certainly fit that category was Addeybb (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}) and he duly carried off the feature G1 QIPCO Champion S. Going through the conditions with an ease his rivals could not match, last year=s runner-up finally registered a first top-level success in Britain having annexed the G1 Ranvet S. -
