The main problem was being outrebounded 43-30 and more importantly, 22-4 on the offensive boards including one overtime possession that lasted threw five offen- sive rebounds that reset the shot clock. OVERTIME WOES LSU has now lost five straight overnight games dating back to the 2015 season … LSU’s last overtime win was against Vanderbilt, 79-75, on Jan. 24, 2015 … The Tigers are 0-2 in overtime in the Will Wade era at LSU (South Carolina, 83-74, 2/28/18; Florida State, 79-76, 11/23/18). Overall, LSU is 39-57 in overtime games, 4-15 on neutral courts. Ironically, this was the first overtime game in the AdvoCare Invitational since LSU beat Butler in the third place game in 2013.

IN EARLY SEASON EVENTS This is LSU’s 56th appearance in an in-season tournament since its first appearance in the Fort Worth Collegiate event in 1947 … This will be the second time LSU has appeared in the Disney-based tournament, the first since the 2013 event, which was then known as the Old Spice Classic. LSU was 2-1 in that event, defeating Saint Joseph’s, 82-65; losing to Memphis 76-69 and defeating Butler in overtime, 70-68, to finish second. LSU will try to go 2-1 for the second time at Disney World in Sunday’s game against Oklahoma State. That was the last time LSU was 2-1 in a three-game event.

TWO POINT-GUARD SYSTEM BECOMES THREE Soon after Coach Wade arrived at LSU, it became very clear that he believed in trying to have two-point guards on the court to run his offense. Last season that meant Tremont Waters and Skylar Mays who combined to average 27.2 points (15.9 for Waters, 11.3 for Mays) and a combined 8.9 assists. Now Coach Wade has started three point guards in every game – sophomore Waters, junior Mays and freshman Ja’vonte Smart. In six games the trio has combined for 225 points, 57 rebounds, 70 assists and 38 steals while shooting a combined 78-of-161 from the field with 23 treys and 46-of-55 at the line. The points are evenly spread as Mays has 82 points, Smart 72 and Waters 71.

TREMONT WATERS -- POINTING THE WAY The sophomore from New Haven had his second 11-assist game of his career against Charleston (11/22). Here are the career 10 assist games for Waters:

2017-18 11 – vs. Arkansas 11 – at Auburn 10 – vs. Mississippi State 10 – vs. North Florida 10 – vs. UNCW 10 – vs. UT-Martin
