Report on Comments Toward Development of 2021 UPC and UMC Now Available for Online Download

Ontario, Calif. (Aug. 21, 2019) — The International Association of and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), developer of the (UPC®) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®), has posted online the 2019 Report on Comments (ROC) for the 2021 editions of these American National Standard- designated model codes.

Interested parties are encouraged to download the documents at the following URLs:

Uniform Plumbing Code http://codes.iapmo.org/docs/2021/UPC/2019%20UPC%20REPORT%20ON%20COMMENTS.pdf

Uniform Mechanical Code http://codes.iapmo.org/docs/2021/UMC/2019%20UMC%20REPORT%20ON%20COMMENTS.pdf

One of the many benefits of the IAPMO consensus code development process is the ability for anyone and everyone to have a voice. On Sept. 24, during the association’s annual Education and Business Conference, IAPMO will conduct the Association Technical Meeting Convention at the Silver Legacy Resort in Reno, providing stakeholders the opportunity to advocate for their position on proposed changes.

Those wishing to make a motion must complete a comment form explaining their proposed motion and/or modification from the Report on Proposals (ROP) or ROC to present to the Association Technical Meeting on that day. All comment forms must be received no later than 9 a.m. PDT, Sept. 24. The comment form can be obtained using the following link:

http://codes.iapmo.org/docs/2021/Association%20Comment%20Form.pdf

Motions at the Association Technical Meetings must be in accordance with Section 4-5.4 of the Regulations Governing Committee Projects.

IAPMO urges its members and other interested parties to get involved in the code development process to ensure effectiveness in preserving the public health, safety and welfare through fair and balanced development of its codes and standards. Installers, plumbing and mechanical officials, the construction industry, engineers, and manufacturers all benefit from a cooperative effort in developing codes.
