About the Authors

Jayavel Sounderpandian is a professor of quantitative methods at University of Wiscon- sin-Parkside, USA. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in business administra- tion from Kent State University, Kent, OH, USA, and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. He teaches operations management, business statistics, and decision analysis at undergraduate and graduate levels. Before joining the academia, he worked as an engineer for 7 years at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Bangalore, India. His research interests include decision analysis and supply chain management. He has published numerous research articles and textbooks.

Tapen Sinha is the ING Comercial America Chair Professor at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City. He is also a Special Professor at the School of Business, University of Nottingham, UK. He has a PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota. He is the founder-director of the International Center for Pension Research, ITAM and an associate of the Centre for Risk and Insurance Studies at the University of Nottingham. Professor Sinha has published over 100 papers and 5 books. He has been a con- sultant for a number of multinational companies and governments of different continents.

Dirk.Baldwin is an associate professor of management information systems and the depart- ment chair of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, USA. Professor Baldwin conducts research related to multiple view systems, decision support systems, and strategic issues related to IT. He has published in journals such as Journal of MIS, IEEE Transactions on System, Man, and Cybernetics, and Journal of Cases on Information Technology. He has coauthored books on MS Access. Professor Baldwin is chair of the Information Technol- ogy Practice Center and was named Wisconsin Idea fellow by the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents.

Srinivas.Bhogle heads the Information Management Division at National Aerospace Labo- ratories (NAL), Bangalore, India. He obtained his PhD in 1983 from the University of Paris V under the supervision of Claude Berge. He graduated from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, in 1978 specializing in operations research. Bhogle leads NAL teams developing interactive information portals, digital repositories and aviation information products, and writes extensively about R&D developments outside NAL. Bhogle has taught courses on information systems at Bangalore University and elsewhere for a decade, guided over 200 student projects, and authored about 75 articles, reviews, and reports.

Rajendra.V..Boppana is a professor of at the University of Texas at San Antonio, USA. He received the B Tech degree in electronics and communications engineer- ing from Mysore University, India, in 1983, the M Tech degree in computer technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in 1985, and the PhD degree in computer engineering from University of Southern California, in 1991. Dr. Boppana’s research inter- ests are in parallel and distributed computing, performance evaluation, computer networks, and mobile computing and communications. Dr. Boppana published extensively and served on the program committees of several conferences in these areas. His current and previous research has been supported by several grants from NSF, DOD, and other federal funding agencies.

Subrata.Chakrabarty is pursuing his PhD at Mays Business School, Texas A&M Univer- sity, USA, since Fall 2004. His research and consulting interests include global sourcing of information systems (IS), quality assurance and control, global project management, business processes in the IS industry, and strategic and organizational issues related to offshoring and outsourcing. Before pursuing his PhD, he worked for more than 2 years at Infosys Tech- nologies (India) on projects for clients in the U.S. and UK. He completed his undergraduate degree in India, and received the 1st rank in his college. He is a “certified software quality analyst” (CSQA). His hobbies include swimming, painting, and cartooning.

Suresh.Chalasani. is an associate professor of the Department of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, USA. Professor Chalasani specializes in supply chain management systems, e-commerce systems, technologies for e-commerce systems, parallel comput- ing, and applications. Professor Chalasani is a senior member of IEEE. He published nearly 70 research papers in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, IEEE Transactions on Communica-

Dr. Chalasani was a recipient of multiple research and instructional grants from the National Science Foundation and the University of Wisconsin System.

Bradly.Condon (BA, University of British Columbia, 1985), (LLB, McGill University, 1988), (LLM, University of Calgary, 1993), (PhD, Bond University, 2004) is professor of International Trade Law at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and is senior fellow, Tim Fischer Centre for Global Trade and Finance, School of Law, Bond Uni- versity, Australia. Dr. Condon is author or coauthor of four books and numerous academic articles on international trade law and economic integration.

Stephen.Hawk is an associate professor of MIS in the School of Business at Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, USA. His recent publications include articles on offshore software development, the software industry in Russia, e-commerce in develop- ing countries, and MIS curriculum issues. He has published in MIS Quarterly Executive, Decision Sciences, Electronic Commerce Research, Information Technology for Develop- ment, Journal of Information Technology Education, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information and Management, and International Journal of Man-Machine Studies. His PhD is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Rajeeva.Laxman.Karandikar is a professor at the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi, India. His areas of research and interest include stochastic calculus, semimartingales, sto- chastic differential equations, Markov processes, diffusion processes, martingale problems, filtering theory, linear and nonlinear, finitely additive probability theory, limit theorems, white noise calculus: finitely additive approach, financial applications of stochastic processes, Boltzman equation and associated stochastic process, evolutionary game theory, psephology in the context of Indian elections, cryptography, block ciphers, Monte Carlo simulation and MCMC. He has published extensively in these areas and has published two books.

Giorgos.Laskaridis holds a degree in from the Department of Informatics, University of Athens, , and is now a PhD candidate in the same department. As a research fellow for the Department of Informatics, University of Athens, he has participated in several European and national RTD projects. His research interests are in the fields of electronic services, e-government, software engineering, and system analysis and design. He has published journal and conference publications in the field of e-services and e-govern- ment. He is currently advisor to the Secretary General, General Secretariat for Information Systems of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Xin.Luo.is a PhD candidate of MIS at Mississippi State University, USA. He obtained his BA from Sichuan Normal University (China), MBA from The University of Louisiana, and MSIS from Mississippi State University. His research interests center around information security and assurance, innovative technology management, and cross-cultural issues. He

Manohar.S..Madan is a professor of operations and supply chain management at the Univer- sity of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Whitewater, WI, USA. Manohar received his PhD in business administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. He teaches courses in the area of operations management and supply chain management. Manohar has extensive international teaching experience. Specifically, he has taught business courses in Hong Kong and the West Indies. He has published articles in journals such as International Journal of Operations and Production Management, IIE Transactions, Journal of the Op- erational Research Society, and International Journal of Production Research.

Nikos.Manouselis is a researcher at the Informatics Laboratory of the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. He has a Diploma of Electronics & Computer Engineering, a Master of Operational Research, as well as a Master of Electronics & Computer Engineering, from the Technical University of Crete (Greece). Mr. Manouselis has been previously affiliated with the Informatics & Telematics Institute of the Centre for Research & Technology (Greece), as well as the Decision Support Systems Laboratory and the Multimedia Systems & Ap- plications Laboratory of the Technical University of Crete (Greece). His research interests involve the design, development, and evaluation of electronic services, and their applications for the agricultural sector.

Penelope.Markellou is a computer engineer and researcher in the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics at the , Greece, as well as in the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute (RACTI). She obtained her PhD in “Techniques and Systems for Knowledge Management in the Web” (2005), and her MSc in “Usability Models for E-Commerce Systems and Applications” (2000) from the University of Patras. Her current research interests focus on algorithms, techniques, and approaches for the design and development of usable e-applications including e-commerce, e-learning, e-govern- ment, and business intelligence. She has worked on many R&D projects both national and European, has published several research papers in national and international journal and conferences, and is coauthor of seven book chapters and four books.

Kathleen.Mykytyn is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Management at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. She received her Master of Science in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington, and she has taught information systems- related courses at several universities. For more than 10 years, she has conducted research in the area of information systems and the law, with current emphasis involving e-commerce systems, intellectual property, and jurisdictional issues. Her research has been published in MIS Quarterly, Information & Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Decision, and Knowledge, Technology, and Policy.

Peter.Mykytyn is a professor of management information systems in the Department of Management at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. He received his PhD degree from Arizona State University in Computer Information Systems. He has published his re- search in over 25 journal articles, including Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Information & Management, and Journal of Strategic Information Systems. Dr. Mykytyn’s research interests include the relationship between information technology and a firm’s competitive advantage, use of group-support technologies in organizations, and the relationship between intellectual property, informa- tion technology, and organizational effectiveness and performance.

Angeliki.Panayiotaki obtained her Diploma of Computer Engineering and Informatics from University of Patras, Greece (1996) and her MSc of “Advanced Information Systems” from University of Athens (2000). She is currently working as a researcher (PhD student) at the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of the University of Patras and also at the General Secretariat for Information Systems of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance. Her research interests focus on personalization, Web mining, and interoperability techniques applied in the e-commerce, e-government and e-health domains. She has pub- lished several research papers in international and national conferences and is coauthor of four book chapters.

Bradley.Piazza is the assistant dean in the School of Business and Technology at the Univer- sity of Wisconsin-Parkside, USA and teaches in the marketing area. He completed his Master of Science in Management with a concentration in International Business at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. Through UW-Parkside, Piazza has been very active in the development of an online MBA program with three other University of Wisconsin System schools. He also advises student teams that are working on “live” projects for companies and organizations within southeastern Wisconsin. Some examples of projects are marketing plans, new product launch plans, and competitor analysis.

Sundar.G..Sankaran is a senior signal processing engineer at Atheros Communications, Inc. He has many years of experience in designing physical layer of wireless communica- tion systems, including Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and a proprietary fourth-generation system. He has published 14 papers in refereed conferences and technical journals. He earned a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer in the department of electrical engineering at Santa Clara University.

K..Subhadra is currently an officer at the ICICI Bank in Hyderabad, India. She has received her bachelor’s degree from Osmania University. She also has an MBA. She has worked for a number of years at the ICFAI as a Research Associate. She was a research fellow at the Indian Institute of Risk Management in Hyderabad. She has 10 years of research experience in software industry and in financial industry.

Athanasios.Tsakalidis obtained his Diploma of Mathematics from the University of Thes- saloniki, Greece (1973), his Diploma of Computer Science (1981), and his PhD (1983) from the University of Saarland, Saarbrucken, Germany. He is currently a full professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras and the R&D-Coordinator of the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute (RACTI). His research interests include data structures, graph algorithms, , expert systems, medical informatics, , multimedia, information retrieval, and bioinfor- matics. He has published several research papers in national and international journals and conferences, and is coauthor of the Handbook of Theoretical Computer Science and other book chapters.

Ganesh.Vaidyanathan is an assistant professor of Decision Sciences at IUSB, and has conducted research in the areas of e-commerce, supply chain management, project manage- ment, knowledge management, technological innovation, and IT value. He has authored over 20 publications in journals such as Communications of the ACM and four patents in various computer science areas. Dr. Vaidyanathan has held executive positions at eReliable Commerce, Inc., Honeywell, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin Inc., and Click Com- merce Inc. Dr. Vaidyanathan launched products that include security, payment processing, procurement, logistics, ERP, SCM, and data warehousing. He has consulted with Fortune 100 companies including United Airlines, Mitsubishi, Motorola, and Honeywell in technol- ogy, business, and process reengineering. Dr. Vaidyanathan holds a PhD with a focus on artificial intelligence, robotics and computer engineering from Tulane University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Merrill. Warkentin is professor of MIS at Mississippi State University, USA. He has published over 125 research manuscripts, primarily in computer security management, e-commerce, and virtual collaborative teams, which have appeared in books, proceedings, and journals such as MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Com- munications of the ACM, Communications of the AIS, Information Systems Journal, Journal of End User Computing, Journal of Global Information Management, Journal of Computer Information Systems, and others. Professor Warkentin is the coauthor or editor of four books, and is currently an associate editor of Information Resources Management Journal and Journal of Information Systems Security. Dr. Warkentin has served as a consultant to numerous organizations and has served as national distinguished lecturer for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Previously, Dr. Warkentin held the Reisman Research Professorship at Northeastern University in Boston, where he was also the director of MIS and E-Commerce programs. Professor Warkentin holds BA, MA, and PhD degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Weijun.Zheng is an assistant professor of MIS in the School of Business at Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, USA. His recent research includes electronic market- place, information system value, and organizational signaling, power and IT in organization. He received his PhD from the University of Oklahoma.
