ACCLAIM TRIP 2017 SICILY AND ROME

From sightseeing in the capital, Palermo to gaining insight into Agrigento's Greek heritage in the Valley of the Temples, the ery splendours of Sicily are revealed beneath the shadow of Italy's largest volcano, Mount Etna. TRIP ITINERARY

DAY 1 – THURSDAY – 23 NOVEMBER 2017 - PALERMO Arrive in Palermo, Sicily and meet up with your Local Specialist for tour of the city. Meet your Local Specialist on arrival for a tour of the city. See The Opera House of Palermo and the Cathedral. Later travel to the town of Monreale for views of La Conca d'Oro and explore the magni cent 12th century Norman Cathedral. Return to Palermo and check into your hotel. This evening enjoy a meal of local specialities. Meals: Breakfast, Local dinner Hotel: Garibaldi Hotel Palermo 4*

DAY 2 – FRIDAY – 24 NOVEMBER 2017 – PALERMO – CEFALU - TAORMINA Travel this morning along the coast to Cefalu. The town, with its population of just under 14,000, is one of the major tourist attractions in the region. Despite its size it attracts millions of tourists from all parts of the world. Explore the streets and enjoy free time for lunch. Later arrive in Giardini Naxos near Taormina. Tonight savour a delicious Be My Guest dinner at a beautiful Sicilian winery and restaurant overlooking Mount Etna. Meals: Breakfast, Be My Guest dinner Hotel: Hilton Hotel Giardini Naxos 4*

DAY 3 – SATURDAY - 25 NOVEMBER 2017 – TAORMINA SIGHTSEEING AND EXCURSION TO SAVOCA Your Local Specialist takes you on a walking tour of Taormina on the slopes of Monte Tauro overlooking the sea. Visit the Greek theatre and the sub-tropical terraced gardens. Stroll along the elegant Corso Umberto to the Piazza for splendid panoramic views across the bay. Spend free time shopping for souvenirs and handmade lace on the Corso. Discover rustic village life with your Local Specialist as we visit Savoca, the Sicilian setting for the 'The Godfather'. Enjoy the stunning views before a visit to Vitelli's bar, featured in the lm and known for 'granita di limone'. Later, you’ll journey up Mt Etna, one of the most intriguing volcanoes in the world. DAY 4 – SUNDAY - 26 NOVEMBER 2017 – TAORMINA – AGRIGENTO Enjoy views of Enna on the way to Agrigento, where your Local Specialist takes you to visit the Valley of the Temples - the nest Greek sanctuary in Sicily. See the splendid Temple of Concord and the Temple of Juno overlooking the sea. Meals: Breakfast, Local dinner Hotel: Dioscuri Bay Palace Agrigento 4*

DAY 5 – MONDAY – 27 NOVEMBER 2017 – AGRIGENTO – ERICE – MONDELLO – PALERMO Travel to Erice and explore this famous hilltop medieval town in western Sicily with its cobbled streets, Norman castles and stunning views of the sea, salt pans and wooded hillsides. Perhaps take a walk to the ruins of the famed Venus Castle with its Balio Gardens. Before arriving back in Palermo visit the chic seaside resort of Mondello, a small seaside resort with a beautiful beach, popular with the elite Palermitans. DAY 6 – TUESDAY - 28 NOVEMBER 2017 – PALERMO – ROME Transfer to Palermo for your morning ight back to Rome. Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City. Experience a cultural insight into the Vatican where you will visit the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel followed by an early Farewell Dinner at the Vatican. Meal: Breakfast, Farewell Dinner Hotel: Crowne Plaza Hotel St Peters Rome 4*

DAY 7 – WEDNESDAY – 29 NOVEMBER 2017 – DEPART ROME Today say ‘arrivederci' to Italy, your Travel Director and fellow Acclaim Travel Agents as you prepare to return home with wonderful memories with some free time for shopping on Via del Corso before your ight home. Transfer later to Rome Fiumicino airport. Meal: Breakfast
