Shingle-covered house with long, sloping deeply-pitched shingle roof and small-paned windows (12/12 prevailing), all giving the impression of a proto-Modern Shingle Style or Arts & Crafts house (resembling early Frank Lloyd Wright or McKim Mead & White structures). Large brick chimney at roof intersection of short southwest wing. Narrow hipped 6/9 dormers. Set in upland clearing, bordered by woods.

19. History Originally built 1911 by Charles Goodell of Parsons, Wait & Goodell as a 4-car garage- chauffeurs cottage near the main house of Mrs. William Amory's large farm-estate (#149), and remodeled by local builder-designer T.H. Cabot, Jr. as summer residence c.1954 for Mr. & Mrs. Gray Thoron, but later bought back by Dr. William Glenn and his wife (a granddaughter of Mrs. Amory), and occupied in recent years by Dr. and Mrs. John Appel of Philadelphia.

20. Significance Built as a garage by Boston architects Parsons, Wait & Goodell, this building has been transformed into a very handsome shingle house by designer-builder T. Handasyd PHOTO Cabot. over
