Enya, birth name Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, was born in Gweedore, County Donegal, in Ireland in 1961 to a musical family, the fourth youngest of nine children. Several of her siblings formed the band An Clann As Dobhair in 1968, renamed as Clannad in the 1970s: Eithne joined the group in 1980, playing keyboards and providing backing vocals on a couple of their albums. In 1982, shortly before Clannad became famous for "Theme From Harry’s Game", producer and manager Nicky Ryan left the group and Eithne joined him to start her own solo career.     Ronald Reagan’s Dallas Republic Conference Nomination Acceptance Speech By Andrew Roberts On August 23, 1984, Ronald Reagan accepted the Republican party’s nomination as candidate for president in an extremely well-crafted speech that even today, three-and-a-half decades later, has the power to inspire for its sentiments and to impress for its hard-hitting arguments. Yet perhaps because it was a blatantly electioneering speech, historians and political analysts rarely give it the attention it deserves. It does not appear at all, for example, among the scores of speeches quoted in Frederick J Ryan Jr.’s Ronald Reagan: The Wisdom and Humor of the Great Communicator (1995) or in Lou Cannon’s biography, President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime (1991). What President Reagan said that day highlighted several aspects of his statesmanship and beliefs, and rarely has the work put into any speech – initially by the talented Peggy Noonan and her team, but primarily and ultimately of course by Reagan himself – garnered so much return so quickly. It achieved the three things necessary for an oration of that kind: sharply defining the candidate from his opponent, explaining concisely what the candidate was promising to do in the next administration, and energizing the audience both in the hall and at home to fight the election with all their conviction. Record labels are the main intermediaries in this industry, facilitating the connection between the creative input from musicians and the demand from the consumers. Due to many technological advancements, the barriers to entry have decreased significantly, hence making it easier to enter this industry as a new record label. Additionally, strategic integration options allow existing firms to start new ventures by acquiring or initiating subsidiaries. This research focuses on the multiple modes through which new entry can be commenced. These entry modes all have their own characteristics and consequences for the configurations of the industry. The likelihood of entry, the subsequent performance of new record labels, and the effects on the diversity of the output are the main topics that are explored. In this study, databases storing longitudinal information on musical releases are used to compile a dataset with the necessary information on new record labels.
