2020BATHURST BATHURST CYCLING CYCLING CLASSIC CLASSIC I MARCH I MARCH 14-15, 14 2020-15, 2020 RIDER BOOKLET WELCOME FROM THE MAYOR OF BATHURST I would warmly like to welcome all visitors to our region for this year's Bathurst Cycling Classic The Bathurst Cycling Classic is a popular attraction on the cycling calendar and is growing every year. It consists of several events across two days including Criterium Racing, Hill Climb Championships and the much anticipated B2B (Bathurst to Bathurst). It is the first time the B2B starts and finishes in the heart of our city. I am confident that this has attracted both returning and new cyclists to participate in this event. The B2B has also been confirmed on the UCI calendar as part of the 2020 UCI Gran Fondo World Series. Bathurst is a vibrant regional city offering our visitors the best of country life with all the conveniences and facilities of modern living. The city is one of the most beautiful in the region with a diversity of attractions, activities and services. Our community extends a warm welcome to visitors and participants in this year’s event. We hope you enjoy your stay in the wonderful Bathurst region.

BATHURST CYCLING CLASSIC I MARCH 14-15, 2020 RIDER BOOKLET WELCOME FROM UCI It is my pleasure to send this message to everyone at the Bathurst Cycling Classic.

2020 is the fourth year that this Australian event is part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, which this season comprises 29 qualifier events. The fastest riders in each age group in Bathurst will earn the right to compete in this year’s UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, taking place in Vancouver (Canada) in September.

The Bathurst event offers both a tough 4.1km mountain time trial, and a new road race course that has something for everyone: the challenging Mount Panorama climb right after the start followed by undulating course offering something for cyclists of all abilities.

It is a major undertaking to stage an international event of this calibre, and my thanks to go to the organisers, sponsors and partners, in particular the Bathurst Regional Council whose implication and collaboration with Cycling and Cycling have been invaluable.

In closing, I wish the best of luck to everyone participating in the Bathurst Cycling Classic.

David Lappartient UCI President

MEET LILA

Lila is a determined 4-year-old with a big character and light-hearted attitude to life. She enjoys art, music and dancing. Her favourite colour is pink,” said her mum, Natalie.

Lila was born with two major heart conditions and underwent her first cardiac surgery at 19 hours old. After a challenging 12 months Lila was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome.

“She has difficulty with balance and her hearing and peripheral vision are also affected. Because of this, physical activities are a bit of a challenge for Lila but she is always determined to have a go,” said Natalie.

Natalie said she cried tears of joy when she saw Lila riding for the first time, “I was super happy for her! Lila doesn’t see her bike as being different, she sees it as her special pink fairy bike and she can ride it with confidence just like her brother and cousins do theirs!”

‘We used the money to purchase much needed equipment and attire for our Men’s, Ladies, Juniors and Netball players.’ – Emma Lewis, Bushrangers Committee Member
