It consists of several events across two days including Criterium Racing, Hill Climb Championships and the much anticipated B2B (Bathurst to Bathurst). It is the first time the B2B starts and finishes in the heart of our city. I am confident that this has attracted both returning and new cyclists to participate in this event. The B2B has also been confirmed on the UCI calendar as part of the 2020 UCI Gran Fondo World Series. Bathurst is a vibrant regional city offering our visitors the best of country life with all the conveniences and facilities of modern living. The city is one of the most beautiful in the region with a diversity of attractions, activities and services. Our community extends a warm welcome to visitors and participants in this year’s event. We hope you enjoy your stay in the wonderful Bathurst region. Cr. Bobby Bourke Mayor of Bathurst BATHURST CYCLING CLASSIC I MARCH 14-15, 2020 RIDER BOOKLET WELCOME FROM UCI It is my pleasure to send this message to everyone at the Bathurst Cycling Classic. 2020 is the fourth year that this Australian event is part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, which this season comprises 29 qualifier events. The fastest riders in each age group in Bathurst will earn the right to compete in this year’s UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, taking place in Vancouver (Canada) in September. The Bathurst event offers both a tough 4.1km mountain time trial, and a new road race course that has something for everyone: the challenging Mount Panorama climb right after the start followed by undulating course offering something for cyclists of all abilities. It is a major undertaking to stage an international event of this calibre, and my thanks to go to the organisers, sponsors and partners, in particular the Bathurst Regional Council whose implication and collaboration with Cycling Australia and Cycling New South Wales have been invaluable. In closing, I wish the best of luck to everyone participating in the Bathurst Cycling Classic. However, as no one else can give my life, I must ask my readers to remember, in the lines of Will Carleton, that "For people's lives, full well we know, Two sets of things recall, The one of which we always tell, The other not at all." I was born in 1842, and, if not a pioneer, I certainly think I was a pioneer baby of those born two hundred miles west of Sydney, and I was probably a year or two old before the first clergyman came into that part of the country.
