The league started in the West Region with teams from the Northern California area. In 2005 the league expanded to a national format with the introduction of a Midwest region. The NPSL expanded further in 2007 by adding a Northeastern region. In 2011, with the addition of a Southeastern region, the National Premier Soccer League has truly become a nationwide league. In 2014, NPSL became the largest national soccer league in the US Soccer development pyramid with over 80 teams all over the country. Over 30 expansion teams joined the NPSL for the 2014 season. The NPSL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the governing body of soccer in the United States. The NPSL operates and is managed as a team-run league. The structure of the league allows each team to have one vote. Each team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining league minimum standards. New teams seeking membership into the NPSL are subject to approval by existing team owners. www.FredericksburgFC.org | FFC NPSL & WPSL Program Highlights 2013 MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONS 2014 LAMAR HUNT US OPEN CUP 2013 SOUTH REGIONS CHAMPIONS 2015 MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONS 2013 NPSL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2016 LAMAR HUNT US OPEN CUP www.FredericksburgFC.org | FFC NPSL & WPSL Program Highlights WPSL The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is an independent highly competitive national league whose main focus is on the development of highly competitive premier women's soccer teams. Hale, Sr. Current Value ($/Mil): N/A Team Website @BaltimoreBlast Stadium: Royal Farms Arena Date Built: 1962 Facility Cost ($/Mil): N/A Facility Financing: N/A Facility website UPDATE: The Baltimore Business Journal stated there is a new proposal for a $450 million waterfront arena along the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. It is planned to hold 15-16,000 seats. This would replace the fifty-two-year old Royal Farms Arena. The proposal by Cordish Companies still needs approval by the city, and it is still in the exploratory stage. NAMING RIGHTS: The First Mariner Bank’s naming rights contract ended in December 2012 when it was renamed Baltimore Arena. In September 2014, the arena was renamed Royal Farms Arena after an eighteen-month search for a purchaser. Royal Farms will pay $250,000 annually over five years for the naming rights and have the option to renegotiate the deal after five years. © Copyright 2015, National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School Page 1 Team: Brownsville Barracudas Principal Owner: Oscar Ruvalcaba Current Value ($/Mil): N/A Team Website @BarracudasFC Stadium: Barracudas FC Sports Complex Date Built: 2004 Facility Cost ($/Mil): N/A Facility Financing: N/A Facility Website UPDATE: The 2014–15 season was the first season for the Barracudas as a professional club.
