PURCHASE
A group of five letters and one telegram about the Poetry Reading
at the Wigmore Hall on May 14, 1945 to Denys Kilham Roberts and Eliza
beth Barber of the Society of Authors. Dame Edith accepts John Mase
field's invitation to act on the Selection Connnittee and she discusses
the program and arrangements. She praises George Barber as a poet and
urges Masefield, Vita Sackville-West, Stephen Spender and Barker as
readers. She recommends other specific readers (i.e. John Gielgud,
Dylan Thomas, Edith Evans) for specific poems and finally looks forward
to the reading with some trepidation.
