Tamara Gutman, Canada's Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Canadian Embassy Budapest, Hungary Excellency, On behalf of the Initiators of the Open Appeal of over 200 highly regarded intellectuals of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Letter of Support of many esteemed individuals from around the world, who have spent considerable time and energy in preparing what we believe to be two significant documents for the appropriate movement of the multi-ethnic state of Bosnia- Herzegovina into the future and the overcoming of our currently dangerously chaotic state, we take it upon ourselves to send you both documents, namely: the Letter of Support of esteemed individuals from around the world – scientists, statesmen, writers, artists, and journalists – who are concerned for the fate of our country and the Open Appeal of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Intellectuals We are therefore kindly requesting that the officials with whom you can come in contact should be given these documents for their consideration so that they might lend their support, especially in the calling for a constitutional convention for Bosnia-Herzegovina that would make possible a new and appropriate constitution of a European and American style for a multi- national state. This is needed to replace the currently existing non-functional constitution. As stated in the “Open Appeal”, the constitutional convention should be backed up by provisions for immediate international legal arbitration by experts in this area to deal with and sort out questions which might otherwise result in a deadlock. Please note that in the November 24, 2011 issue of Oslobodjenje both documents have been published in full in Bosnian. On that same date the Slovenian daily DELO published an article on this initiative, and we have already received a significant response requesting inclusion of further supporters, including a member of the European Parliament and a former rector of the University of Ljubljana. On November 28, 2011 the Regional and Transatlantic Portal “Tacno.net – Novosti” published both documents and in 10 days 500 readers gave a positive response. On December 14, 2011 the Magazine “Glas Antifašista” (Voice of Anti-fascists) published both documents, too.     The Georgian National Academy of Sciences (GNAS) and its First President On 10 February, 2011 70 years had passed since the establishment of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, and 120 years since the birth of its First President, Academician Nikoloz Muskhelishvili. It is envisaged to mark these significant dates by convening International Scientific Conferences. It is common knowledge that the development of scholarly and creative thought in Georgia has a rich past, as reflected in the highly intensive and fruitful activity of the Georgian people in the field of spiritual culture. Many centuries ago, outstanding figures of Georgian culture created remarkable translations and original works at enlightenment and scholarly seats, as the Philosophical-Rhetorical School in Colchis (4th c.), Centres of spiritual culture in Palestine (5th c.), Syria (6th c.), Greece (10th –15th c.) and Bulgaria (11th c.). It was at these seats that the best representatives of our nation familiarized themselves with Christian, as well as Oriental culture, scholarship and literature, paving the way for setting up of world-famous Gelati and Iqalto Academies in Georgia. The existence of hearths of higher education in Georgia is attested in the 12th century (and even earlier). These hearths were centres resting on advanced Hellenistic traditions of the time, offering Eastern and Western philosophy covering all the principal spheres of progressive scholarship and education of the day and pointing to the stable statehood and high cultural level of this country. Old Georgian culture is an expression of Hellenistic culture – a symbiosis of East – West Cultures – the culture of a country lying at the crossroads of the East and West traditionally uniting in itself streams of Eastern and Western civilizations.

    UDK 16 (497.6) Nijaz Ibrulj Faculty of philosophy University of Sarajevo BOSNIA PORPHYRIANA AN OUTLINE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOGIC IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA Abstract The text is a drought outlining the development of logic in Bosnia and Herzegovina through several periods of history: period of Ottoman occupation and administration of the Empire, period of Austro-Hungarian occupation and administration of the Monarchy, period of Communist regime and administration of the Socialist Republic and period from the aftermath of the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to this day (the Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina) and administration of the International Community. For each of the aforementioned periods, the text treats the organization of education, the educational paradigm of the model, status of logic as a subject in the educational system of a period, as well as the central figures dealing with the issue of logic (as researchers, lecturers, authors) and the key works written in each of the periods, outlining their main ideas. The work of a Neoplatonic philosopher Porphyry, “Introduction” (Greek: Eijsagwgh;v Latin: Isagoge; Arabic: Īsāġūğī) , can be seen, in all periods of education in Bosnia and Herze - govina, as the main text, the principal textbook, as a motivation for logical thinking. Science and technology research parks are seen increasingly as a means to create dynamic clusters that accelerate economic growth and international competitiveness. Technology parks represent the place of SME's development and the place of the most direct technological transfer. Research parks encourage greater collaboration among universities, research laboratories, and SMEs, providing a means to help convert new ideas into the innovative technologies for the market. They are recognized to be a tool to create successful new companies, sustain them and attract new ones, especially in the science, technology, and innovation sector. Universities, in turn, benefit by exposure to the business world. What all these parks have in common is that they are, at heart, knowledge partnerships that foster innovation. University research and science parks provide the launch pad that startup companies need when they are "spun out" from a university or company. The current state of development of technology parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina and possibilities of establishment of a new technology park in Sarajevo (Ilidža) region are analyzed in this paper.

The steady development of societies can be achieved when men and women have the equal power with equal opportunities and resources to shape their own lives and to contribute to their families, societies and countries. The internationally recognized indicators of aforesaid gender mainstreaming are the areas of Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. In Turkey, even though the legal basis of equality of women and men in these areas have been strengthened through legislative regulations enforced, the need to overcome the obstacles women face when participating to social life as complete and equal individuals and taking all precautions for this is still ongoing. In this study, gender equality in the Turkish higher education system was examined. For this purpose, the schooling rates in higher education, employment rates and participation rates in decision making mechanisms in management of women were examined in the light of gender equality indicators.

    c e p s Journal | Vol.10 | No1 | Year 2020 83 doi: 10.26529/cepsj.715 Chemistry Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina Meliha Zejnilagić-Hajrić*1 and Ines Nuić2 • In this paper, the education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina is pre- sented in the light of current state-level legislation, with an emphasis on chemistry education at the primary, secondary and tertiary level. The consequences of the last war in our country still persist and are visible in many aspects of everyday life, including the education system, thus lim- iting the efforts of education professionals to follow international trends in education. There are three valid curricula for primary education at the national level, each of which differs in the national group of school subjects. Teaching methods are common for all three curricula and are mainly teacher-oriented. The situation is similar with regard to second- ary education. Study programmes at the university level are organised in accordance with the Bologna principles. The programmes are made by the universities themselves and approved by the corresponding ministry of education. Chemical education research in Bosnia and Herzegovina is mainly conducted at the University of Sarajevo. It deals with (1) the problems of experimental work in chemistry teaching, resulting in more than 60 experiments optimised for primary and secondary school, (2) integrating the knowledge of chemistry, physics and physical chemis- try for university students, with regard to students’ difficulties observed during university courses and potential solutions, and (3) the effective- ness of web-based learning material in primary school chemistry for the integration of macroscopic and submicroscopic levels.

    Academician RADU MIRON at ninety Mihai Anastasiei, Constantin Udrişte and Vladimir Balan The academic community from Iaşi together with the Romanian mathematicians, as well as many geometers around the world will enjoy to celebrate in 2017 the 90-th anniversary of Academician Radu Miron. His vast and compact scholarly work has brought him international recognition and has established him as a leader of the Romanian school of geometry. A remarkable gifted professor, endowed with the grace of speaking, he has left an undeniable mark upon numerous generations of mathematics teachers. Being highly concerned with teaching geometry at all levels, he wrote books for pupils and students, as well as monographs having a high scientific level meant for researchers. He supervised 30 Ph. D. students, thirteen of which were from abroad: Japan, Italy, Hungary, Vietnam. Academician Prof. Dr. Radu Miron was born at Codăesti, in Vaslui County on October 3, 1927. He attended the courses of the primary school in his native village. Then he finished his high school studies at the technical school in Bîrlad. In 1948 he enrolled at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the "Al.I. Cuza" University in Iaşi. Here he drew the attention of the famous and exigent teaching staff, so that, at the beginning of the 3-rd year he was appointed instructor and shortly afterwards he was promoted to assistantship. A year after his graduation from the faculty he begin preparing his Doctor's Degree - the chosen specialty being Mechanics - at the Mathematical Institute of the Romanian Academy, the Iaşi branch, his main advisor being academician M.

The program includes a nine-day education and skills development training with a debate workshop, individual research assignments on democracy-related issues, a group project resulting in four civic campaigns, a three-month period for the promotion of the results of the implemented civic campaigns and a closing ceremony with a final debate tournament. >> Participants The Call for Applications was open from October 16 until November 5, 2017.
