Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart After a gap of ten years, Claudio Abbado takes to the rostrum again Missa solemnis in C minor, K. 139 to conduct a new special facet of the of Sacred “Waisenhausmesse“ Music, the Ouverture Spirituelle. The Italian maestro conducts the Orchestra Mozart of Bologna, an ensemble specially dedicated to performing the work of Mozart. Franz Schubert Mass in E flat major, D. 950 The programme includes two masses: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 1768 Mass in C minor K. 139, better known as the Waisenhausmesse Conductor Claudio Abbado (Orphanage Mass), and Franz Schubert’s Mass in E flat major Orchestra Orchestra Mozart Bologna D. 950 of 1828. Chorus Arnold Schoenberg Chor Chorus Master Erwin Ortner The two works combine to make a touching and intimate experience, performed by the renowned soprano Rachel Harnisch and the Soprano Rachel Harnisch tenors Javier Camarena and Paolo Fanale. The music is “fresh, with Soprano Roberta Invernizzi a rapid tempo and solemn”, according to the Kleine Zeitung, while Alto Sara Mingardo the Münchner Merkur makes special mention of the “impressive Tenor Javier Camarena level of detail”. The New York Times meanwhile thought that the Tenor Paolo Fanale concert was clearly the “high point of the Ouverture Spirituelle”. Bass Alex Esposito
