These records, consisting of 19,503 pages, have been reviewed for all applicable FOIA exemptions, resulting in 2,274 pages restricted in whole or in part. NARA is proposing to open the remaining 17,229 pages. A copy of any records proposed for release under this notice will be provided to you upon your request.     ABSTRACT POLITICAL (IN)DISCRETION: HILLARY CLINTON’S RESPONSE TO THE LEWINSKY SCANDAL by Kelsey Snyder Through an examination of gender, politics, and media during the time of the Lewinsky scandal, this project shows that conversations about the first lady shifted throughout 1998. Just after the allegations were made public, the press and American people fought against the forthright position that Hillary took; the expectations of traditional first ladies they had known before were not met. After facing backlash via the press, the first lady receded to more acceptably defined notions of her actions, based largely in late 20th century conservative definitions of appropriate gender roles. By the end of 1998, consideration of a run for the Senate and increased public support for her more traditional image provided a compromise for Hillary Rodham Clinton’s public image. Having finally met the expectations of the nation, the press spoke less of the first lady in comparison to family values and almost exclusively by means of her political abilities. DID CLINTON LIE?: DEFINING "SEXUAL RELATIONS" PETER TIERSMA* With the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton now a distant memory, we can step back and consider the matter somewhat more dispassionately than was possible in the midst of such an intense and highly politicized debate. The focus of the impeach- ment hearings was on whether Clinton perjured himself and engaged in obstruction of justice when answering questions relating to the nature of his relationship with a former White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. I will limit my observations in this Article to the question of whether Clinton committed perjury, and in particular, I will focus on whether he lied when he denied having had a "sexual relationship" with Lewinsky. Yet the real subject of this Article is not the Clinton impeach- ment, nor is it primarily about perjury law, although I will have things to say about each.

    Hallmark Collection 20000 Leagues Under The Sea In 1867, Professor Aronnax (Richard Crenna), renowned marine biologist, is summoned by the Navy to identify the mysterious sea creature that disabled the steamship Scotia in die North Atlantic. He agrees to undertake an expedition. His daughter, Sophie (Julie Cox), also a brilliant marine biologist, disguised as a man, comes as her father's assistant. On ship, she becomes smitten with harpoonist Ned Land (Paul Gross). At night, the shimmering green sea beast is spotted. When Ned tries to spear it, the monster rams their ship. Aronnax, Sophie and Ned are thrown overboard. Floundering, they cling to a huge hull which rises from the deeps. The "sea beast" is a sleek futuristic submarine, commanded by Captain Nemo. He invites them aboard, but warns if they enter the Nautilus, they will not be free to leave. The submarine is a marvel of technology, with electricity harnessed for use on board. Nemo provides his guests diving suits equipped with oxygen for exploration of die dazzling undersea world. Aronnax learns Nemo was destined to be the king to lead his people into the modern scientific world, but was forced from his land by enemies. Now, he is hoping to halt shipping between the United States and Europe as a way of regaining his throne. Ned makes several escape attempts, but Sophie and her father find the opportunities for scientific study too great to leave. Sophie rejects Nemo's marriage proposal calling him selfish. He shows his generosity, revealing gold bars he will drop near his former country for pearl divers to find and use to help the unfortunate.
