Old wounds and rumours of the past resurface and haunt him as he tries to find out who really killed her. The film isn’t your typical revenge film. Looks are deceiving. In fact, it isn’t a revenge film at all. It’s a Greek tragedy that explores the central character’s guilt through Dante’s Inferno. Beyond, the murder and the treachery, the film is an emotional journey about a father and a daughter. This is the heart of the project. Without touching on a father’s love, the film fails. In fact, everything happens because of a father’s love for his daughter. He acts out of love.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: David Schaefer, 240-662-2954 March 28, 2011 [email protected] ACTOR AND FORMER NAVY BRAT LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS TO HOST NEW MILITARY CHANNEL FRANCHISE AN OFFICER AND A MOVIE – Strand Launches Friday, April 1 with debut of The Great Santini – (Silver Spring, Md.) – Military Channel has signed Hollywood film and television star Lou Diamond Phillips to host the new franchise AN OFFICER AND A MOVIE. Debuting every Friday evening beginning Friday, April 1, AN OFFICER AND A MOVIE pairs Phillips with retired and active duty officers who lived through major battles or have an expertise in the conflicts depicted in notable Hollywood films. As each film makes its Military Channel premiere, AN OFFICER AND A MOVIE provides expert commentary that can only come from being “on the ground” during the action as these officers reflect on the themes of that night’s film and also provide personal insight that puts each movie into a modern context. “Lou Diamond Phillips is well known for his many feature films including the military movie Courage Under Fire and, as the son of a Navy officer, he is the perfect choice to interview some of the U.S. military’s most distinguished leaders,” said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager, Investigation Discovery and Military Channel. “The discussions within AN OFFICER AND A MOVIE bring an entirely new and even more realistic dimension to some of the greatest war movies of our time – from The Dirty Dozen to The Great Santini to Hart’s War – and provide valuable new information exclusively for our audience of military history buffs.” “To have the opportunity to discuss the real-life events and strategies of the heroic efforts of service men and women from our nation’s history is something I will cherish,” said Lou Diamond Phillips.

FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM COGS108 Final Project Group Members: Yanyi Wang Ziwen Zeng Lingfei Lu Yuhan Wang Yuqing Deng Introduction and Background Movie revenue is one of the most important measure of good and bad movies. Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue? What aspects should people put more effort on and what factors should people focus on when they try to higher the revenue of a movie? http://localhost:8888/nbconvert/html/Desktop/MyProjects/Pr_085/FinalProject.ipynb?download=false Page 1 of 62 FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM Hypothesis: We predict that the following factors contribute the most to movie revenue.

  • Forgotten Soldiers Press
Synopsis When the Japanese launched their Pacific attack, General Douglas MacArthur's United States Army Forces in the Far East included U.S. National Guard units, a regiment of Marines, ten divisions of newly recruited and poorly equipped Philippine Army soldiers, and one U.S. Army infantry division with supporting units--the Philippine Scouts. MacArthur told his men to hold their ground at all costs, to fight to the death if necessary as they began America's first major battle of World War II, the Battle of Bataan. The top brass in Washington promised to send reinforcements, planes, naval support and supplies...but months went by and the reinforcements never came. The Filipino and American soldiers fought and held off the enemy from December 1941 through March 1942, surrounded and constantly bombarded by the powerful Japanese army and navy. As their ammunition, medicine and food supplies dwindled they went on half rations, then one-third rations. They were starved out--victims of malaria, dysentery and a variety of tropical diseases. After four months of almost constant combat, after every other Allied stronghold in the Pacific had fallen, Bataan commander General Edward King finally surrendered his surviving troops to the Japanese rather than see any more of his men slaughtered by the enemy. As Prisoners of War the survivors of Bataan suffered one of the worst atrocities in military history--the Bataan Death March. Thousands of men died on the Death March, thousands more in horrible Japanese prison camps. In combat and as POWs, more than half of these brave men died at the hands of the Japanese Army.

Or maybe a little, with her mother (born in Denmark and sent to France at the age of 19) being a press photographer who gave her a passion for photography, art and Life. She also from a young age has been captivated by storytelling and has been an enthusiastic theatre and movie goer as well as an avid collector of films with a collection boosting over 2000 DVDs. However Claire decided to study medicine with the aim of being a brain surgeon – out of the sheer passion (another passion!) for the human body. After two years at La Pitie Salpetriere in Paris, Claire realized that she could not cope with the emotional side of the trade and decided to travel. And travel she did, for a full seven years – until she landed in Cape Town in 1995 where she fell in the film industry, like Obelix fell into the magic potion. Starting as a driver, Claire quickly got involved on set and got snapped up by the AD department on “After the rain” replacing the 3rd AD. From then on she progressed up the ranks and has now been a 1st AD for the past 18 years on movies, TV series, reality shows and commercials, travelling extensively around South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique.
