•International tourist arrivals grew by 5% in 2013 to 1.087 billion •In 2012, international tourism generated US$ 1.3 trillion in export earnings •UNWTO forecasts a growth in international tourist arrivals of between 4% and 4.5% in 2014 • Global arrivals in 2013 were 1.087billion; +5% YOY growth • Global tourist earnings were $1trn in 2012 – Africa share was only 3.1%. • Global tourist arrivals at 1bn • Africa enjoying increasing tourist arrivals from 15m in 1990 to 56m in 2013. • Southern Africa share of Africa growth increased from 17% in 1990 to 45% in 2000 declining to 40% in 2013. • Zambia arrivals at 914,576 in 2013 was an increase of 13%, higher than global growth rate of 5%. 2.Tourism sector unique attributes
