Lester has been a supporter of NSH Finals for many years. He has most recently been responsible for bringing a great deal of prize money to Finals. Karen Root is new to Finals but is an ardent supporter of Arabian/Half-Arabian showing. They both bring unique perspectives to the table. Their enthusiasm and commitment was obvious during our December BOD meeting. We look forward to their future involvement. The year 2012 was not without challenges for our Registry. These were met head on by our very own Cindy Clinton. She has continued to streamline our operations and trim our budget while increasing availability. Again our NSH Finals has been awarded the USEF Favorite Breed Competition of the Year. Staying with our long tradition of being exhibitor friendly plans for this year’s show will make it even better. For more in-depth information about last year’s show and plans for the 2013 NSH Finals please read Cindy’s article in this issue. Our Stallion Row Jackpot continues to be a very lucrative program. Any breed of Stallion can be enrolled as a NSH Nominated Sire and have his foals competing in our Weanling Jackpot Classes at Finals. As Chairman it is also my responsibility to remind you ALL registered Half-Arabians are eligible for National Show Horse registration. In the same vein existing double registered (Half- Arabian/National Show Horses) that are purchased or sold by you should have their papers transferred. These are the transactions that keep the wheels turning in our office. I believe the year of 2013 holds a great deal of promise for The National Show Horse Registry if we all continue to pull together. May you all have a wonderful 2013 and God bless, David R. His dam, JJ Sioux Hope, is by the impressive MC Sir Hope and Cout of MG Jabaska. JJ Sioux Hope is a big impressive mare herself, 15.1 hands to be exact. She is also the mother of DS Mick Jagger, another stallion on the ChriShan Park roster, who, from nine living foals of show age sired, has produced two multi-national champions. On the paternal side, Grand Caymon decends from one of the most celebrated English lines in history; that of Bask through his son—the one and only Zodiac Matador! Grand Caymon’s short term importance will be how dazzling he is in the show arena, which so far has been hampered by a nagging injury. In the long term, it will be in his ability as a sire to transmit the depth of his pedigree and the unique physical attributes it conveys. Grand Caymon reminds me so much of his sire whom I guided to all of his national championships. We are so excited to watch his babies come of age. We are planning to show Grand Caymon at Region 11 and National Show Horse Finals, and we will see what happens after that. No lines to Huckleberry Bey...
