CORALLINE LIMESTONE Coralline limestone of Bagh Bed Formation directly underlies the trap rock and /or topsoil or upper clay. It is exposed widely in the limestone block area. It is hard and compact, fine grained, well bedded and pale yellow to reddish brown in color. At many places the beds are laminated and well jointed. The thickness of this formation varies from 0.50 m to9.26 m with average thickness of 3.4 m. MARL A thin layer of marl/calcareous clay, which is fine grained, brownish color and silty in nature has been recorded between the nodular and coralline limestone units. The thickness of this formation varies from 0.90 m to 6.00 m with average thickness of 2.6 m. NODULAR LIMESTONE This formation is characterized by the presence of limestone nodules, which are soft, fine grained thinly bedded in nature. It is frequently intercalated with clay layers and occurs in different shades varying from pinkish brown to pale yellow to blackish grey to greenish white color. Stratigraphically it underlies Coralline limestone but in few boreholes rhythmic alternation of coralline limestone (1 m to 3 m) and nodular limestone is observed. The thickness of this formation varies from0.50 m to 12.30 m with average thickness of 4.5 m. SHALE In general, this formation overlies the Nimar sandstone and underlies nodular limestone. It is red in colour, fine grained and medium hard in nature. The thickness of this formation varies from 0.5 m to 7.0 m with average thickness of 3.1 m. NIMAR SANDSTONE Nimars and stone is the oldest member of the Bagh Group. The sandstone rests unconformable over the Archaean metamorphics and is overlain by calcareous rocks. The thickness of this formation varies from 3.5 m to 12.00 m with average thickness of 6.9 m. GRANITE Archaeans rocks form the basement and oldest rocks in the area, which are overlain by Bagh and Lameta sediments. However, The granite is not seen exposed in the limestone block area and also not encountered in boreholes drilled in the area as they have been terminated in sha le or Nimar sandstone. B. Method of Mining Mining will be done by fully opencast mechanized method with drilling and blasting. Major activities involved in the mining process will be Top soil and OB removal, deep whole drilling, controlled blasting, excavation, loading/unloading, crushing(crusher located in adjacent mine) & transportation to the cement plant via covered conveyor belt.
