“For when established identities become outworn or unfinished ones threaten to remain incomplete, special crises compel men to wage holy wars, by the cruellest means, against those who seem to question or threaten their unsafe ideological bases.” Erik Erikson (1956), “The Problem of Ego Identity”, p. 114 “In games it’s very difficult to portray complex human relationships. Likewise, in movies you often flit between action in various scenes. That’s very difficult to do in games, as you generally play a single character: if you switch, it breaks immersion. The fact that most games are first-person shooters today makes that clear. Stories in which the player doesn’t inhabit the main character are difficult for games to handle.” Hideo Kojima Simon Parkin (2014), “Hideo Kojima: ‘Metal Gear questions US dominance of the world”, The Guardian iii AGRADECIMENTOS Por começar quero desde já agradecer o constante e imprescindível apoio, compreensão, atenção e orientação dos Professores Jean Rabot e Clara Simães, sem os quais este trabalho não teria a fruição completa e correta. A Sandbox for Modeling Social AI
The AIIDE-17 Workshop on Experimental AI in Games WS-17-19 A Sandbox for Modeling Social AI Ethan Robison Northwestern University [email protected] Abstract We present a system for quickly prototyping AI code for modeling social interaction among the simulated residents of a skyscraper. The system is built on top of a commercially released indie game but replaces its character AI with a gen- eral-purpose logic programming language. These two fea- tures together simplify the more tedious parts of creating pro- totype AI code from scratch, enabling more effort to be fo- cused on the meatier parts of research. Introduction One of the obstacles facing game AI researchers is the sheer Figure 1: Screenshot of the AI Sandbox scope of effort involved in making a game, most of which has little or no publishable research content: UI design, play- testing, music and sound effects, and art and animation are Architecture notoriously difficult facets of game design. While generic In this paper, we describe a system for rapidly prototyping assets for certain genres, such as First-Person Shooters, or AI code within the framework of the commercially released (especially) platformers exist, finding appropriate assets for game Project Highrise (SomaSim LLC, 2016). Project other genres can be a challenge. For other genres, finding Highrise is a simulation game in which players “build and assets-especially aesthetically consistent ones-can be nearly manage a modern-day skyscraper,” (SomaSim LLC, 2016). impossible. For social games like The Sims 3 (Electronic In the game, players develop and arrange a skyscraper as Arts Inc., 2009) or visual novel style games like Long Live they see fit, and the tenants and visitors to the skyscraper go the Queen (Hanako Games, 2012), researchers are often about their lives-working, shopping, eating, and sleeping in forced to get by with a good deal of willing suspension of the simulated world. -

It’s a very young project, so don’t be surprised if something is missing. But now get ready for a wild ride into a world where GET and POST don’t mean anything and consistency is a lucky mistake. Contents 1 GOG-API Documentation, Release 0.1 2 Contents CHAPTER 1 Contents 1.1 Authentication 1.1.1 Introduction All GOG APIs support token authorization, similar to OAuth2. The web domains www.gog.com, embed.gog.com and some of the Galaxy domains support session cookies too. They both have to be obtained using the GOG login page, because a CAPTCHA may be required to complete the login process. 1.1.2 Auth-Flow 1. Use an embedded browser like WebKit, Gecko or CEF to send the user to https://auth.gog.com/auth. An add-on in your desktop browser should work as well. The exact details about the parameters of this request are described below. 2. Once the login process is completed, the user should be redirected to https://www.gog.com/on_login_success with a login “code” appended at the end. -
