This allows users to develop, build and upload their website to the Internet without any knowledge of HTML or other web technologies. Much like Microsoft Word, WebPlus uses WYSIWYG drag and drop editing to add and position text, images and links as they will appear on the finished web page. Once a user has developed a site, WebPlus can view the site in a web browser before downloading the site using the built-in FTP. The software comes with various pre-designed sample websites containing Text Filler, like Lorem ipsum, which can be used as a template for quick site design. It also provides drawing tools to create and edit buttons and web graphics. The free WebPlus Starter Edition previously made available limited Starter Editions features of its software based on older versions that can be obtained and used for free. For WebPlus, the final free edition was based on the X5 version, and it was released in September 2012. This continued to be available from serif until it was removed around March 2016. WebPlus was then only available as a paid version of the X8. However, the downloadable Serif patches for X7 up to v15.0.2.31, v15.0.3.35 and v15.0.4.38 (final) reported the discovery of these unauthorized codes, but allowed the software to continue working. Conversely, Serif's public WebPlus X8 installation file appears to accept a third party key during installation, but reports unauthorized code and then shuts down the program when it starts. In March 2016, Serif announced that the WebPlus X8 would be the final version and that there were currently no plans to develop an application to replace it. Sales of Serif's WebPlus X8 ended around December 2016. In early 2018, Serif announced that Serif Web Resources, hosted on Serif servers and required to implement some of the expanded website features in WebPlus created sites, will no longer work after August 31, 2018. In 2018, Serif is also shutting down servers that are generated plus software registration numbers online (activation codes in Microsoft jargon) from the product version and individual installation number. Serif showed an alternative is to use a universal master registration number that is 881887. This is known to work with post 2003 Serif Plus software (for example, tested to work with PagePlus v5.02). However, later, Serif Plus software is still automatically registered if during a certain recent period of the previous registration of Serif software on the same computer. The supported WebPlus platforms were designed for Microsoft's Windows Win32 desktop interface and are fully compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista (32/64bit), Windows 7 (32/64bit) and Windows 8.     Muse - Life after WebPlus A possible solution Introduction This guide isn’t intended as a full-blown tutorial on how to use Adobe Muse. It’s intended to highlight some of the similarities and differences between WebPlus and Muse. The idea is to dispel many of the notions and theories that, somehow, creating a website in a responsive development application restricts your design freedoms. As will be seen, Muse can produce websites with the same eases and virtually all the features that WebPlus users have become familiar with. To illustrate the point, I’ve used a very simple (albeit old fashioned) site design that could just have easily been created in WebPlus. Many of the tools and features in Muse will already be familiar to WebPlus users - the only real difference is the layout and style of the user interface - no big deal, right? Neither is this guide intended to spark a debate about the use of subscription-based web development tools. The fact is, if you create websites for other people (presumably for money) then you have to go beyond WebPlus or get left behind. Whilst there are a number of other options, such as framework driven environments and other stand-alone applications. there are few that I’ve seen that come anywhere near as close to the design flexibility that WebPlus users have enjoyed. However, Muse does fit the bill. The only thing that’s really missing is the quick shapes. Everything else is there, only tucked away in a different user interface. Things like Assets are called widgets in Muse and there are hundred of them out there to download - some free, some paid for.
