[email protected] Who should take the test? We recommend that students enrolled in Honors or AP courses take the SAT subject test. When should you take the test? We recommend that students register to take the exam in June. Why should you take the test? The SAT is an international standardized test that offers a comparison of a student’s subject comprehension. Many of the first-tier colleges recommend that students take at least two subject tests for admission. What students need to do? Students should purchase an SAT subject test review book to prepare for the test. In addition, they should consult with their classroom teachers for areas in which they may need extra help and attend remedial classes. Subject Test Description Math Level 1 Content Math Level 1 The Mathematics Level 1 Subject Test assesses the knowledge Content Approximate you have gained from three years of college-preparatory % of Test mathematics, including two years of algebra and one year of geometry. If you have excelled in these courses, taking the test Number and operations 10%-14% can support your high school grades, indicate an interest in Algebra and functions pursuing math-based programs of study (science, technology, 38%-42% engineering, economics, etc.), and differentiate you in the Geometry and measurement 38%-42% admission process. •Plane Euclidean Geometry 18%-22% •Coordinate Geometry 8%-12% Students that are in our Algebra 2/Trigonometry or our Algebra •Three-dimensional Geometry 4%- 6% 2/Trigonometry Honors courses will be prepared to take this •Trigonometry-Right triangles, 6%- 8% test in June of the year they complete either one of these courses. identities Data analysis, statistics and probability 8%-12% Subject Test Description Math Level 2 Content Math Level 2 The Mathematics Level 2 Subject Test covers the same material Content Approximate as the Mathematics Level 1 test-with the addition of % of Test Trigonometry and elementary functions (Precalculus). If you performed well in these courses, taking this test gives you the Number and operations 10%-14% opportunity to highlight your abilities and showcase your interest in higher-level mathematics. Algebra and functions 48%-52% Geometry and measurement 28%-32% Students that are in our Precalculus or Precalculus Honors •Coordinate Geometry 10%-14% courses will be prepared to take this test in June of the year they •Three-dimensional Geometry 4%- 6% complete either one of these courses. •Trigonometry-Right triangles, identities, radian measure, law of cosines, law of sines, 12%-16% equations, double angle formulas Data analysis, statistics and 8%-12% probability .
