Each year, the ACI Nebraska Chapter provides scholarship awards to deserving students based on their interest and ability in concrete design, construction, and/or materials. Two scholarships are offered in the name of Nebraska Chapter Richard T. “Dick” DeLorm are given to one undergraduate and one graduate student. Except this year, we are only providing one graduate scholarship as we had zero successful applicants for the undergraduate scholarship.

ACI Nebraska graduate recipient of the 2021 Richard T. Delorm Scholarship goes to Mr. Temirlan Barissov. Temirlan is pursuing his MS degree in Civil Engineering at UNL. He is interested in the design & research of concrete materials & structures. He is currently employed as a graduate assistant for Dr. Joing Hu, and is lead assistant to finish a project on developing “Best Practices to address Issues of Excess Aggrgate dust in Nebraska”, along with other research studies. His long term goals is simply to have enough knowledge and experience to have an actual contribution for innovative and sustainable development in the concrete industry. According to his 3 letters of recommendation, the message was quit clear, Temirlan is a hard working, reliable, skilled, and well prepared graduate student. Everything ACI Nebraska is looking for in a scholarship award winner.

Congratulations Mr. Barissov, Your recognition is well deserved.

Richard T. “Dick” DeLorm served as an officer, Board member and Executive Director of the Nebraska Chapter ACI from day one of our chapter’s inception in 1987, until his retirement in 2016.
