The track’s long straights make huge demands on the tyres’ casings, even though the infamous Mulsanne Straight was split into three sections by 53 two chicanes some 20 years ago. Grip levels vary depending on the surface type (busy trunk roads, Le Mans- cars on Michelin tyres Bugatti circuit) but tyre wear is relatively low.
