N SATURDAY NIGHT, ODECEMBER 9, Park East Synagogue saw a night that will be long remembered. Despite the heavy snow outside, hundreds filled the Synagogue from wall to wall, to celebrate Cantorial arts, their Cantor Helfgot and the Park East Synagogue Choir under the appreciation of Richard Tucker, and baton of Maestro Russell Ger. most importantly, their commitment to Jewish education. Derek Korf and the Park East Day School Choir. The evening began with the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School Choir singing the Havdalah; lead by 8th grade soloist Derek Korf. This moving performance of the children's choir brought tears to the eyes of many in the crowd as they saw Jewish values and education successfully passed down so beautifully to yet another generation. The singing was followed by the inspiring words of Rabbi Arthur Schneier who spoke about Park East's leading role in reviving, rejuve- nating, and maintaining Cantorial arts in America and around the world. The concert continued with tenor Neil Shicoff, Cantor Helfgot, and music and talent that lasted into the night. The crowd was also pleasantly surprised by the “wonder boy” Yitzi Rosinger, who sang the well-known Cantorial piece Tanya. Attendees were enthralled by the great performances and will undoubtedly long remember this inspiring evening. We would like to thank our dear President, Mr. Herman Hochberg and our indefatigable and veteran Concert Chairman Dr. Michael Reich who did such an excellent job chairing the evening. We would also like to thank Zoltan Lefkovits for being a great patron of Cantorial art as well as our dedicated Co-Chairmen Dr. Daniel Roses, Dr. Miklos Weinberger, Barry Tucker, and all the Neil Shicoff sponsors for their leadership and support who made this evening such a great success.
