WELCOME TO THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR! On behalf of the East Boston High School Administrative Team, we want to wish you a big welcome back! The team and I are delighted to be back at school and in the halls with our students. We feel so fortunate to serve the students, faculty, and staff here at Eastie. Our students deserve the best and we are committed to help them be successful in every aspect of their high school experience. The EBHS coaching staff continues to exemplify the character traits associated with excellence and I’m thrilled about the daily infl uences they have on our students.

As a parent and a headmaster, I am always grateful for the opportunities to watch our men and women grow, mature, and demonstrate character traits associated with hard work and integrity. We are thrilled to get to be a part of our students’ lives and we learn so much from them. In Tony Dungy’s book, Quiet Strength he reminds us, “you can have an impact anywhere you are....” I’m confi dent that our various athletic programs here at EBHS provide opportunities that lend themselves to the preparation for life beyond East Boston High School.

30 31 GIRLS SOCCER GIRLS SOCCER 2017 SEASON PREVIEW, COACHING STAFF & SCHEDULE 2017 VARSITY SENIORS

A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD COACH Many question marks arise in looking toward the 2017 season. The graduation of 7 members from last year’s squad leaves many positions open to be fi lled. We have a strong core of dedicated and motivated players returning to battle for starting positions and playing time. The 2017 version of the Lady Jets will be led by seniors Heidy Delcid, Julie Escobar, Janyedi Guzman, and Victoria Vargas. Juniors who are expected to make valuable contributions are Andrea Vargas and Florence Gutierrez. I am so proud to be able to coach and teach the wonderful young ladies of East Boston High School. I believe it is so important to have a “family-unit” for the ladies, and I believe our program does that. We have a “no- cut” policy, which means if you can make it through August practices and do what is expected of you in the classroom and in practices, you will be a part of a wonderful and diverse “Sorority”.
