These include hard rock tunnels, shield tunnels, cut and cover tunnels, and immersed tube tunnels. The firm can also provide expertise in the design of underground space for railways. International project experience includes work in Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. Between Thailand’s Lampang and Doi Saket areas lies a mountainous region in which two tunnels were constructed using the New Austrian tunnelling method. The 900-meter tunnel in Malaysia’s Genting-Sampa connection was improved by the firm with an upgrade of its facilities. Two hundred kilometres north of Manila is the mountainous Dalton Pass, where KEI planned a tunnel to improve the highway alignment, and to protect the road and its users from landslide. KEI has also designed and supervised construction of numerous underpasses in Manila, and underground works for the city’s LRT 2 rail project. 10 interchanges Expressway and highway interchanges have large land requirements, which is a particular issue in urban areas. The design must accommodate traffic demand in each direction, yet try to minimize land acquisition cost, impact on environmentally sensitive locations, and impact during construction. In response, authorities proposed various mul- timodal transport terminals around the periphery of the metropolis. However, there is a need to understand how these proposed terminals will impact existing transportation infrastructure and services as well as the current travel demand. This paper proposes a method that quantifies the nearness of any subject to any metric of interest, or in this case, the location of the terminal based on its proximity to existing transit supply and demand at different points in the transport network. It involves a simple methodology that requires only the spatial distribution of relevant transport planning data (e.g., public transport services, public transport passenger activity). It was found that the spatial distribution of the transport terminals in the study area is more closely related to the transit supply. Using the same methodology, several potential locations in Metro Manila (e.g., central terminal, terminal along a major junction) were assessed to see whether these are viable sites for a multimodal terminal. One scenario configuration was found to be better integrated with where trips start and/or end, while another seemed to improve integration of the existing railways. The first proposal will provide a new interchange from the Skyway to Sales Road. The interchange has to shift slightly from the exact location of the Nichols Interchange, but contained on Sales Road as an elevated structure. This facility will connect Terminal 3 directly with the Skyway, which serves SLE near Magallanes Interchange and Pasay Road or Buendia Avenue over the Magallanes Interchange. The second proposal is an underground tunnel from C-5 South Section to Andrews Avenue to go under the main runway. Although it needs very sensitive construction technologies, it is a technically possible alternative. This facility will directly connect Terminal 3 with C-5, which serves Roxas Boulevard southbound and C-5 northbound.     Protocol Advisory to Ministers and High Level Participants We are pleased to inform you about the protocol that we have arranged for Ministers and high- level participants to the “Mobilizing Aid for Trade: Focus Asia-Pacific” , which will be held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines on 19–20 September 2007. Pre-Arrival: ADB will assign a liaison officer (LO) for each of the Minister or Governor. We will inform you of the name and contact number of your liaison officer. For coordination purposes, please inform us your hotel reservations, flight details, and your request for bilateral meetings with ADB or with other delegations. Arrival at the airport in Manila: We have designated a dignitary’s lounge for Ministers and other high-level participants at the airport. There will be protocol officials of the Philippine government, ADB representatives, and LOs at the dignitary’s lounge to facilitate all immigration procedures and custom clearance. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by ADB representatives outside the arrival area. They will be holding an Aid for Trade board and they will bring you to the dignitary’s lounge. Please present your travel documents to ADB representatives. They will process your travel papers and secure your baggage. While waiting, you are most welcome to use the facilities in the lounge. When you are ready, our representatives will guide you to your designated car service which will bring you to your hotel. Countless researches have tested, suggested and reviewed proposed improvements on the traffic condition. This paper focuses on investigating the overall effects of the operational and administrative changes in the study area over the past couple of years, from the introduction of the Mass Rail Transit (MRT) in the year 2000 to the present (2014), to the service operating characteristics of buses plying the EDSA route. It was found that there are no significant changes in the average travel and running speeds for buses running Southbound, while there is a noticeable improvement for those going Northbound. As for passenger-kilometers carried, only minor changes were found. The journey time composition percentages did not show significant changes over the two time frames as well. For the factors contributing to passenger-related time, the presence of air-conditioning and the direction of travel were found to contribute as well, aside from the number of embarking and/or disembarking passengers and number of standing passengers.

The approval of the Enhancing Capacities on DRRM/CCA Project by the Project Board of the Integrating DRR/CCA Project1 of Formatted: Font: 11.5 pt 2 the NEDA is our concrete contribution Formatted: Font: 11.5 pt to the region in terms of reducing the Formatted: Font: 11.5 pt vulnerability and improving Formatted: Font: 11.5 pt preparedness of its disaster-prone communities. The Enhancing Capacities on DRRM/CCA Project complements the Integrating DRR/CCA project which provides technical assistance in the preparation of the DRR/CCA-Enhanced PDPFPs of its two pilot provinces, Bukidnon and Camiguin. Remarkably, Region X is the only region that comprises all five provinces in the implementation of the Integrating DRR/CCA Project, even with only two pilot provinces (not 2 but 5 in 10). The coverage even extends to the three cities that were severely affected by TS Sendong: Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Valencia in the preparation of DRR/CCA-Enhanced CLUPs. Further, to have a more holistic and comprehensive perspective of mainstreaming DRR/CCA in development and physical planning, the riverbasinriver basin/watershed approach is adopted in the formulation/updating of the regional physical framework plan. As early as 2005, the National Land Use Committee (NLUC), with the NEDA as the Chairperson has come up with an action agenda on disaster risk management, primarily to strengthen DRR in physical planning.
