Accessibility During Late-Night/Early-Morning Hours at Haneda Airport Improves！ ～Five Shuttle Bus Services Between Haneda Airport and Terminals in Centraltokyo～ September 19, 2014 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Tokyo Metropolitan Government Accessibility during Late-night/Early-morning Hours at Haneda Airport Improves！ ～Five Shuttle Bus Services between Haneda Airport and Terminals in CentralTokyo～ ○ Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport) is open 24 hours/ 7 days a week, and the number of domestic and international passengers arriving and departing exceeds 70 million annually. In order to make more effective use of Haneda Airport, however, we are expected to improve the accessibility during late-night/early-morning hours (11:00pm – 6:00am), during which more takeoff and landing slots are available, with the objective of enhancing the international competitiveness of the airports in the Tokyo metropolitan area as well as keeping pace with the increase in foreign visitors to Japan. ○ In an effort to increase the number of passengers during the said hours, it is important not only to develop airline routes, but also to improve access to the airport. Therefore, during the “Winter Timetable 2014” period, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Tokyo Metropolitan Government will work in partnership with the bus companies and conduct trial shuttle bus services between Haneda Airport and central Tokyo to improve the accessibility during such hours. ○ Accordingly, we expect the number of passengers will increase during the late-night/early morning hours due to this effort. Users will then be able to experience the charms and hospitality of Japan. We will extend the period of validity of a “Greater Tokyo Pass” purchased from March 16 (Sat.) to April 30 (Tue.), 2019 during the period of the “SAKURA Campaign” from three days to five days without changing its sales price. Currently, the “Greater Tokyo Pass” is sold only for use beginning on the same day.
