Press Release -French Kiss, a Love Letter to Paris FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ATTENTION : Arts Editors and Photography Collectors LA GALERIE PRESENTS “FRENCH KISS, A LOVE LETTER TO PARIS” BY PETER TURNLEY Exhibition of photography Hong Kong, May 2015 – La Galerie on Hollywood Road in Hong Kong is presenting an exhibition of works by Peter Turnley featuring art photographs. The exhibition opens on May 1st and will run until June 7th, with a preview on April 30th. Peter Turnley felt in love with Paris from the instant he first Ianded in this city in 1975. He has now lived in Paris and photographed the life of this city for almost forty years. As Peter Turnley career in photography took off, he began to travel widely but he would always return home to Paris, his adopted city, to walk with joy and photograph life in the streets and on the riverbanks. Possibly more than in any other city in the world, the visual landscape of Paris presents a constant expression of the beauty and power of love, seen through the tender kisses and embraces that can be publicly seen, literally anywhere, at any time, and always. Photography is about sharing, with others and ourselves, moments that touch our eyes, and our hearts. Implicit in sharing, like a kiss, is a notion of love, and of giving. “Paris has given me so much, as it has given to so many”, says the artist. “French Kiss, Love letter to Paris”, is an expression of Peter Turnley profound gratitude to this city and to the many people whose paths he has crossed here. “Like a kiss, I offer here an expression of hope and love for our present and our future. “ This black and white exhibition brings also a timeless nostalgic view of Paris, influenced by the time Peter Turnley worked with Robert Doisneau.

A valley between the cities of Kosovska Mitrovica and Uroševac, Kosovo proper is eighty-four kilometres long and roughly fourteen kilometres wide. Since medieval times the Kosovo valley has been a densely populated area, an important crossroad of vital transport routes in the Western Balkans, linking the Adriatic Sea with the lower Danube basin. Kosovo and Metohija are rich with both agricultural and mineral resources1. The other area geographically separated from Kosovo by the hills of Drenica has been, for centuries, known as Metohija. Marked since the medieval period by hundreds of Serb Christian Orthodox churches, monasteries and their dependencies (metochion– signifying in Greek language the church property) Metohija is renowned by splendid endowments of Serbian rulers and landlords2. Bordering northern Albania in the west, Metohija is a highly fertile agrarian flatland that stretches roughly from the towns of Istok and Peć in the north to the Djakovica and Prizren area (Prizrenski Podgor) further south. 1 Atanasije U r o š e v i ć, Kosovo, Belgrade 1965; Zadužbine Kosova.
