  • 1974 Tour with the Band
BOB DYLAN / THE BAND (a collectors guide to the 74 Tour) BOB DYLAN / THE BAND - a collectors guide to the 74 Tour “There are two problems with the 1974 tour: the tapes are crap and Dylan‟s performances are crap.” – C. Heylin, Telegraph 32 pg 86. Introduction This booklet / File (like the anonymous companion volume “Songs of the Underground” for RTR) is intended to document the audio resources available to collectors concerning the 1974 tour with the Band. It is intended to supplement and possibly correct the three major resources available to collectors (Krogsgaard, Dundas & Olof‟s files). Several PA tapes have emerged since Krogsgaard was last updated, and (I believe) there are errors in Dundas (concerning the PA tapes from 11 Feb 1974) that I wished to address. Additionally, none of these references (except for one full listing in Krogsgaard) include the Band sets. While details are difficult to obtain, I have included details of about three- quarters of the Band sets. It is hoped that readers on the web may contribute more information. I believe that the Band was a significant contributor to the 1974 Tour and should be included in any 1974 Tour documentation. I have also identified the sources for the Vinyl and CD bootlegs, where my resources allowed. Often the attributions on Bootlegs are misleading, incomplete or wrong. As an example „Before and After the Flood‟ claims to be from MSG NYC 30.1.1974 when it is actually a combination of the PA tapes from 31.1.74 (evening) and 11.2.74 (evening).

Pilot Season by Kelly Cousineau An undergraduate honorsrequirements thesis submitted for the degree in partial of fulfillment of the Bachelor of Arts in University Honors and Film Thesis Adviser William Tate Portland State University 2014 Abstract In the 1930s, two historical figures pioneered the cinematic movement into color technology and theory: Technicolor CEO Herbert Kalmus and Color Director Natalie Kalmus. Through strict licensing policies and creative branding, the husband-and-wife duo led Technicolor in the aesthetic revolution of colorizing Hollywood. However, Technicolor's enormous success, beginning in 1938 with The Wizard of Oz, followed decades of duress on the company. Studios had been reluctant to adopt color due to its high costs and Natalie's commanding presence on set represented a threat to those within the industry who demanded creative license. The discrimination that Natalie faced, while undoubtedly linked to her gender, was more systemically linked to her symbolic representation of Technicolor itself and its transformation of the industry from one based on black-and-white photography to a highly sanctioned world of color photography.

HIGHLIFE Donec Egestas Scelerisque WORLD dolor: MUSIC BEST OF 2011 – OUR FAVOURITE ALBUMS OF THE YEAR 1317 Commercial Drive Vancouver, BC tel: 604-251-6964 email: [email protected] web: highlifeworld.com BEST OF 2011 BOMBINO Agadez Niger From the Saharan sands of Niger comes this recording by the brilliant guitarist/vocalist Bombino, who manages to create a distinctive desert blues style with echoes of both Ali Farka Toure and Tinariwen. An essential recording! TOM WAITS Bad As Me USA Gravelly-voiced poet and musical maverick Tom Waits returns with this strong batch of rocking blues stompers and tender ballads, joined by the likes of Keith Richards, Marc Ribot and David Hidalgo. Beginning with a train journey north to Chicago and ending in a bar on New Year’s eve (singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ no less) this is a trip worth taking. Highly recommended! KIRAN AHLUWALIA Aam Zameen: Common Ground Canada Indo-Canadian vocalist Kiran Ahluwalia, known for her beautifully updated Ghazal music, this time does some continent hopping as she collaborates with desert blues sensations Tinariwen and Terakaft. From the opening take on Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s classic ‘Mustt Mustt’, propelled by handclaps and call and response vocals, we are in for an exciting cross-cultural musical feast. WILCO The Whole Love USA The 8th release by Jeff Tweedy and cohorts impressively reprises the various musical inclinations of this effortlessly creative group. From the off-kilter whirlwind of the opener to the epic beauty of the 12 minute closer, this is an album by a band at the top of their game.
