Gaming Research May 28, 2018 Ken Liu (702) 266-5620 CAESARS ENTERTAINMENT CORP. (NASDAQ: CZR) [email protected] 1630 S. Commerce St. Caesars has a significant presence in Las Vegas with a 63% EBITDA Las Vegas, NV 89141 exposure. Labor contracts for most Las Vegas casino resorts, including all but one of the Caesars properties, expire at the end of May. Last week, 25,000 union members voted to authorize a strike by a 99% margin. Main outstanding issues in CZR negotiations include technology, housekeeping workload study, union security in case of change of ownership, and wages and benefits. The difference between the two sides’ economic proposals is approximately $7.4 million in the first year and $8.9 million in the fifth year. A one-month strike could reduce CZR’s EBITDAR by nearly $120 million. Negotiations are scheduled for May 29 and May 30 Labor contracts for most Las Vegas casino resorts expire at the end of May. Collective bargaining agreements between UNITE HERE’s Culinary Local 226 and Bartenders Local 165 (“the Union”) and most of the casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas are set to expire at the end of this month. All Caesars properties except the Rio have contracts expiring at the end of the month. (See the end of this note for a list of properties at risk.) Caesars has a significant presence in Las Vegas with a 63% EBITDA exposure. Negotiations for a new 5-year deal covering all CZR properties’ approximately 12,000 workers started in March, but major differences remain between the unions and the company.

  • Fiscal and Capacity Requirements
CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR THE GAMING REGULATORY OVERSIGHT AUTHORITY Area 2: Fiscal and Capacity Requirements October 21, 2013 0 Table of Contents 1 Approach By direction of NH RSA 284-A, the New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority has directed WhiteSand to prepare a report identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the 2013 NH legislative proposals as compared to the best and most relevant components of the regulatory provisions in the other comparator states. This part of the report addresses fiscal and capacity requirements: WhiteSand has approached this particular task using a formal methodology to determine market demand. We reviewed the specific demographics and other attributes of the gaming jurisdiction to be evaluated. This included, but was not limited to, population, income levels, age distribution, nearby competition and gaming tax rates. We evaluated these factors within ranges of 30, 60 and 90 miles of the proposed gaming facility general location. In order to provide a consistent measurement of demographics within a specific region we use distance radii from the region. Using distance rather than driving time eliminates fluctuations due to drive times, day of week, unpredictable events (e.g., accidents, weather, etc.) and other factors. Distance radii are translatable to drive times in most scenarios and provide more consistent results due to the reduction of unpredictability. Using this information, we then identifed a “Competitive Set” for the proposed gaming facility - other gaming properties to be compared based on similar demographics and characteristics. While the properties identified in the competitive set usually do not provide an exact match, they present enough similarities to evaluate market demand and estimate key financial statistics.

50 Ways Vegas Has Changed Since Frommer’s 1998 vegasbright.com/2017/03/22/50-ways-vegas-has-changed-since-frommers-1998/ By ShortArmsDeepPockets 3/22/2017 ShortArmsDeepPockets explores 50 Ways Vegas Has Changed since 1998. As I sat around daydreaming about my upcoming Vegas trip (#21 and counting), I got to reminiscing about my first trip. Back in 1999, I had picked up a discounted copy of Frommer’s 1998 travel guide for Las Vegas. It was slightly out of date by the time we traveled 18 months after its publishing date. Fast forward 18 years and that out-of-date guide is nothing short of a time machine! I dug it up out of storage and, within a few pages, realized I had struck historical and nostalgia gold. One could write an entire book about all the things that are different about Vegas from 1998 until today, but I tried to trim it to the top 50 changes. REST IN PEACE Some of the individuals mentioned in the Guide have passed into the Great Beyond. Noteworthy passings include: 50. Debbie Reynolds: In 1998, Debbie Reynolds was quite prominent on the Las Vegas scene, as subsequent entries will demonstrate. We lost Debbie in 2016, a day after the passing of her daughter Carrie Fisher. 49 Jackie Gaughan: Las Vegas icon Jackie Gaughan was best known for his ownership of the Plaza back in 1998 (“Jackie Gaughan’s Plaza”); however, over his 64-year career in the gaming industry he also owned the El Cortez, Gold Spike, Las Vegas Club, and other properties Downtown.

  • Las Vegas Casino & Hotel Market Outlook 2019
JULY 2019|PRICE $500 LAS VEGAS CASINO & HOTEL MARKET OUTLOOK 2019 Author: Shannon S. Okada, MAI Managing Director, Gaming www.hvs.com HVS Gaming Division 8445 W. Warm Springs Road, A-4 #336, Las Vegas, NV 89117 USA The primary drivers of the Las Vegas economy are tourism, gaming, and conventions. The annual number of visitors to Las Vegas exceeded 42 million for the fourth consecutive year in 2018. Total gaming revenue for Clark County properties exceeded $10.2 billion in 2018, surpassing the $10-billion mark for the first time since 2007. Market-wide occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR) declined slightly in 2018, compared to 2017; however, in the year-to-date period through May 2019, occupied rooms, ADR, and RevPAR increased when compared to the same period in 2018. Continuing development of numerous gaming, lodging, and entertainment venues will enable the market to retain its status as a premier destination. This article examines trends and market developments affecting the Las Vegas hospitality market. VISITATION The tourism, gaming, and convention industries are dependent upon the volume of visitors to the region. Las Vegas continues to be recognized as a top U.S. destination and is fourth on TripAdvisor’s 2019 list of Travelers' Choice “Top 25 U.S. Destinations,” dropping from third in 2018. Over 42 million people visited Las Vegas for the fourth consecutive year in 2018. However, 2018 was the second consecutive year that the total number of visitors to Las Vegas declined year-over-year since the record-setting 42.9 million visitors in 2016.
