  • The Venetian and the Palazzo Las Vegas Fun Facts
The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas Fun Facts The Venetian Las Vegas With the addition of The Palazzo to The Venetian, the combined properties have more than 7,000 suites, making this “under one roof” space the largest hotel in the world. The London Sunday Mail called The Venetian one of the seven “Grandest Hotels in the World.” In 2014, TripAdvisor named The Venetian the world’s most extraordinarily designed hotel. Combined, The Venetian and Palazzo house more than 2.3 million square feet of meeting space, 1 million square feet of retail space, and more than 30 restaurants. The Venetian lobby features 25-foot-high columns made of solid Botticino marble, imported from Italy. The Venetian Colonnade’s marble floor was hand fitted and modeled of the floor of the Church of Santa Maria del Rosario in Venice. The Campanile tower is 315 ft. tall, nearly as tall as the 323-ft. original in Venice. The Palazzo Las Vegas The Palazzo is 50 stories tall. There are no 4th, 13th, or 14th floors in the building. The Palazzo is the second tallest building in Nevada at 639.5 feet. The Palazzo contains 233,000 cubic yards of concrete. That equals 19,417 fully loaded concrete trucks—enough concrete to build a six-foot wide sidewalk from The Venetian all the way to the northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. The Palazzo features the only two-story porte cochere in Nevada with one level for drop off and another for pick up. With remarkable attention to detail, 70 different types of finishes were used throughout the property.

  • Dan Leonard Dan Leonard Knew a Career in the Hospitality Industry
Dan Leonard Dan Leonard knew a career in the hospitality industry was a good fit from the moment he began washing dishes at his neighbor’s bar at an early age. He was drawn to the fast- paced environment, working with a variety people and the never-ending challenges and rewards that restaurant/hotel professionals encounter on a daily basis. Dan began his hospitality career at his neighborhood McDonald’s restaurant in Chicago, where he learned and practiced the McDonald’s corporate motto and operating philosophy of QSC&V (Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value), which he carried on throughout his career. While attending Triton College, Dan moved into the full-service restaurant segment at The Rusty Scupper Restaurant in River Grove, Ill. During his 15-year career at The Rusty Scupper, Dan started as a cook and worked his way up to a management position. He later joined Planet Hollywood Restaurant Company at their inception and helped grow the chain from three restaurants to over 40. Highlights include opening and operating the chain’s highest grossing restaurant at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., before being promoted to east coast regional director, overseeing the expansion and operations of over 15 restaurants from New York City to Key West, Fla. For the past 20 years, Dan has been with Margaritaville Hospitality Group. He was hired as the opening general manager of Margaritaville at Universal Studios in Florida with a goal of spearheading future growth. Dan was promoted to president of Margaritaville Hospitality in 2007 and now focuses on the growth, operations and profitability of the brands expanding lodging division.

Gaming Research May 28, 2018 Ken Liu (702) 266-5620 CAESARS ENTERTAINMENT CORP. (NASDAQ: CZR) [email protected] 1630 S. Commerce St. Caesars has a significant presence in Las Vegas with a 63% EBITDA Las Vegas, NV 89141 exposure. Labor contracts for most Las Vegas casino resorts, including all but one of the Caesars properties, expire at the end of May. Last week, 25,000 union members voted to authorize a strike by a 99% margin. Main outstanding issues in CZR negotiations include technology, housekeeping workload study, union security in case of change of ownership, and wages and benefits. The difference between the two sides’ economic proposals is approximately $7.4 million in the first year and $8.9 million in the fifth year. A one-month strike could reduce CZR’s EBITDAR by nearly $120 million. Negotiations are scheduled for May 29 and May 30 Labor contracts for most Las Vegas casino resorts expire at the end of May. Collective bargaining agreements between UNITE HERE’s Culinary Local 226 and Bartenders Local 165 (“the Union”) and most of the casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas are set to expire at the end of this month. All Caesars properties except the Rio have contracts expiring at the end of the month. (See the end of this note for a list of properties at risk.) Caesars has a significant presence in Las Vegas with a 63% EBITDA exposure. Negotiations for a new 5-year deal covering all CZR properties’ approximately 12,000 workers started in March, but major differences remain between the unions and the company.
