WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION SERVES AS DESK ANALYST FOR SATURDAY’S FOX UFC FIGHT NIGHT: WEIDMAN VS. GASTELUM

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz Calls Fights with Analyst Brian Stann and Blow-by-Blow Announcer Jon Anik

LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports has set its broadcast team for UFC FIGHT NIGHT: WEIDMAN VS. GASTELUM on FOX and FOX Deportes on Saturday, July 22 (8:00 PM ET). A week before defending his UFC title at UFC 214, champion Tyron Woodley (@TWooodley) works as desk analyst in Long Island for Friday and Saturday’s coverage. Curt Menefee (@CurtMenefee) hosts the FOX broadcast network shows, while Karyn Bryant (@KarynBryant) joins the desk as host for the FS1 and FS2 programs. Reporter Megan Olivi (@MeganOlivi) interviews fighters on-site.

Former champion and current No. 1-ranked bantamweight Dominick Cruz (@DominickCruz) and retired middleweight Brian Stann (@BrianStann) join blow-by-blow announcer Jon Anik (@Jon_Anik) to call the fights live from Long Island. UFC bantamweight Erik "Goyito" Perez (@Goyito_Perez) and Troy Santiago (@TroySantiagoTV) call the Spanish language telecast on FOX Deportes.

Woodley is looking forward to his television work heading into his title fight, saying: “I’m ready to fight today! I’m passionate about being a television analyst and it will play as a healthy distraction before my title defense. I have a UFC 214 media day in City on Thursday before heading out to Long Island for the weekend, so I’m killing two birds with one stone. All my coaches and training partners are taking the trip with me and we will be handling business as usual.”

In the main event on FOX, former middleweight champion and current No. 5 (13-3) headlines at home with a pivotal five-round showdown against fellow 185-pound star Kelvin Gastelum (14-2). FOX UFC analysts Kenny Florian, and Michelle Waterson preview of the fight from last Sunday’s FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT POSTFIGHT SHOW here.

Also featured during Saturday’s two-hour main card, No. 10-ranked featherweight Dennis Bermudez (17-6) fights No. 11 Darren Elkins (23-5), while No. 11-ranked light heavyweight Patrick Cummins (9-4) and No. 13 Gian Villante (15-7) square off. No. 5-ranked bantamweight Jimmie Rivera (20-1) and No. 9 Thomas Almeida (21-1) open the main card.

The two-hour UFC FIGHT NIGHT PRELIMS on FOX and FOX Deportes begin at 6:00 PM ET and feature four more bouts. Welterweights Lyman Good (19-3, 1NC) and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (16-5) collide. Middleweight Rafael Natal (21-8-1) takes on (7-0), while No. 13-ranked welterweight Ryan LaFlare (13-1) fights Alex Oliveira (16-3-1, 2NC). Plus, Damian Grabowski (20-4) and Chase Sherman (10-3) open the PRELIMS with a heavyweight scrap.

Saturday’s action wraps up after the main event with the UFC FIGHT NIGHT POSTFIGHT SHOW on FS2. The FS1 UFC WEIGH-IN SHOW takes place Friday, July 21 (6:00 PM ET) on FS1 with Bryant and Woodley joined by Cruz on the desk, the night before he calls the fights.
