Last year, the Car Club wrapped up with a fantastic Christmas event, hosted by 2009 - 2010 Stewart and Evelyn Garmey. 2010 has a great mix of events for Committee members, including more social drives, a special events division, as Wwell as many more joint Motorsport events planned in conjunction with other car PRESIDENT clubs. Driver Training will also remain as a big event on the BMWCCV calendar, David Cheong where a bring your family environment is sure to remain a huge success. Tel: 0412 524 534 [email protected] The committee has shifted its focus for 2010 at getting more members involved [email protected] and engaged in the clubs events. This is through not just attendance, but also through volunteering at events to help the organisers. In the past we have seen VICE - PRESIDENT Oliver Lindsaar the biggest problems occur at Motorsport events, where Graeme Bell and his Tel: 0418 313 901 team are constantly seeking more hands. New incentive schemes are currently [email protected] being outlined for people who give up their time to help out at events (even small jobs like parking attendants, BBQ hands and even people to help out selling SECRETARY/PUBLIC OFFICER raffle tickets are always needed), and sounding like my mother “Many hands Tony Whelan make light work”. Tel: 0418 509 171 [email protected] This mantra also extends further to Event organisers. As a Committee we are lacking an Events Coordinator. This role is integral to the social events that the TREASURER Marc Warshall club holds, and so far Ned has taken on this role but cannot do it forever. As Tel: 0412 389 954 discussed later in the Presidents report, we will try and take the focus off the [email protected] Events Coordinator to plan, organise and run events. In this absence Ned has been working to create smaller teams of Event Commanders for different types MOTORSPORT CAPTAIN of events, such as Scott Muir for COE (Show N’ Shine) and Allison Morris as Graeme Bell the special events commander. The Committee still encourages members to put Tel: 0407 186 296 forward any social ideas. We will support and endorse member ideas as much as [email protected] we can, and help them to get off the ground. EDITOR Jenna Patan So what was my highlight of 2009? I attended my first DECA Motorkhana event Tel: 0413 844 527 in December. After stepping off a delayed flight from overseas and straight to the [email protected] work Christmas Party I can assure you that my mind and body was not ready for an early Sat morning trip to Shepparton. But with the pit stop at McDonalds I MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY found my saviour in an Egg and Bacon Mc Muffin and a Coffee! With a borrowed Wendy Eime camera I wondered around the compound all day taking action shots from the Tel: 9521 6383 participants. DECA is such a safe environment for people to play with their cars, [email protected] push them a little further than normal or in some cases thrash them without any worry in the world (there is nothing to hit!). Lock Curran made my morning, the MERCHANDISING OFFICER Position Vacant photo below was one of the first runs of the day on the DECA back track, just before you hit the finish line you turn into a mini skid pan area and weave around MARKETING CO-ORDINATOR a cone any way you please. You see the first timers brake appropriately, you see Michelle Stepanovsky the ones with a little bit of confidence approach at high speeds and try the Tel: 0412 714 669 handbrake.... the you have what Lock did... a picture is worth a thousand words [email protected] so I can let you come to your own conclusions of how he made it happen. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face and I don’t think anyone else could who saw it CITY DEALER LIAISON either! It certainly set the tone for the rest of the day. Make sure you all get down Postion vacant to DECA at either one of the Motorkhana days or Driver Training Events, they really are a brilliant event for the whole family. Also keep in touch via [email protected] Happy Reading http://www.bmwccv.com.au/ forums Jen Patan Editor Top Marque 2 PRESIDENTS REPORT Season’s Greetings! It has been a good year. Change is not easy to implement but we have made some progress. I wish to thank the Committee for their solid work in 2009. Their dedication and application to the hard yards is inspiring. Financially we have bounced back, recovered old debts and are on track to another good year. I must also mention in particular, our retired Editor, Graeme Eime for his tireless contribution since issue 98, Autumn 2004, and many years service, along with Ken Lee in other committee positions. I am sure all the members join me in thanking you for the fabulous contribution Graeme. The New Year is a time to reflect and look forward. It is imperative that we have more members step up to assist with the running of the club. I have seen people commit to committee positions over the years and burn out by trying to do too much. There has to be a better way. It is a formidable disincentive to Committee duty when any job appears to be too much of a commitment or thankless. Other negative perceptions of our club and its workings, revealed in the 2008 survey, also have to be dealt with.

  • Buses – Global Market Trends
2017 BUSES – GLOBAL MARKET TRENDS Markets – Competition – Companies – Key Figures Extract from the study BUSES – GLOBAL MARKET TRENDS Markets – Competition – Companies – Key figures In all regions across the globe, buses remain the most widespread public transport mode. Their demand goes hand in hand with several, mostly region-specific factors, including demographics, increasing mobility of people and environmental awareness, as well as public funding. Buses are comparatively to other transportation modes cheap and easy to use, since their use does not necessarily require the implementation of a specific infrastructure. This makes buses ideal vehicles for both short- and long-distance services. Based on the current developments, this Multi Client Study offers a comprehensive insight into the structure, volumes and development trends of the worldwide bus market. In concrete terms, the market study “BUSES – GLOBAL MARKET TRENDS” includes: A look at the worldwide market for buses differentiated by region An analysis of the relevant market data including present and future market volumes Information concerning the installed fleet and future procurement potential until 2022 An assessment of current developments and growth drivers of the worldwide bus markets in the individual regions An overview of bus manufacturers including an analysis of the market shares, financial backups as well as a brief description of the current product portfolio and strategy outlook A list of the major production facilities in each of the regions including product range as well as production capacities Presentation of the development stage of alternative propulsions, their manufacturers and their occurrence worldwide The study is available in English from the August 2017 at the price of EUR 3,400 plus VAT.

  • DULUX RALLIES 1971 & 1972 a History
DULUX RALLIES 1971 & 1972 A History Conducted by AUSTRALIAN SPORTING CAR CLUB LIMITED COMPILED BY TOM SNOOKS – April 2019 FOREWORD START OF DULUX RALLY – 1971 I’m a little hazy about the start of the event but I recall in 1970, after I moved to Sydney from Perth (July), I lived with Allan Lawson for some time and he was talking to the Promotions/PR Manager, Roy Waters, of ‘’Balm Paints’’, about an event to promote the company’s upcoming name change to ‘Dulux’. Research showed that the first group to promote to were car repair shops, refinishers, etc, as the company produced a large range of automotive paints and lacquers. It also showed that the most effective way to carry out a promotion was through motor sport, as the operators and workers of the repair shops and refinishers were interested in the sport, and hence the development and conduct of the first true ‘Road and Track’ event in Australia. Allan Lawson was the Event Director for the 1971 event and was also the Event Director of the Southern Cross Rally (1969 to 1971). Both events were conducted under the auspices of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) by the Australian Sporting Car Club (ASCC), of which John Keran was President. Allan invited me to be the Event Administration Manager, and Allan Horsley, Promoter of the Oran Park Raceway, the Race Director. John Keran Allan Lawson Tom Snooks Lawson moved to Queensland early in 1972 and I took over as Event Director of the Dulux Rally, and also was appointed Secretary of the ASCC.
