Summer is moving along! I really like when we get these rains that come through especially at night. My succulents I have outside especially like it. To 6 ft or so in most any normal garden conditions - full sun to part shade with regular summer water. Found originally in the Irish garden of Mrs. Frizell and loved for it quirkiness ever since. To only 1 ft tall x 2 ft wide and deciduous, coming back slowly in spring. Best in bright shade or shade where soil is rich. Requires summer water. Frost hardy to -40F, USDA zone 3 and said to be deer resistant. $14 Woodsiaceae USDA zone: 4 Aralia cordata 'Sun King' perennial spikenard The foliage is golden, often with red stems, and dazzling on this big and bold perennial, quickly to 3 ft tall and wide, first discovered in a department store in Japan by nurseryman Barry Yinger. Spikes of aralia type white flowers in summer are followed by purple-black berries. -

Lake Havasu City Recommended Landscaping Plant List Lake Havasu City Recommended Landscaping Plant List Disclaimer Lake Havasu City has revised the recommended landscaping plant list. This new list consists of plants that can be adapted to desert environments in the Southwestern United States. This list only contains water conscious species classified as having very low, low, and low-medium water use requirements. Species that are classified as having medium or higher water use requirements were not permitted on this list. Such water use classification is determined by the type of plant, its average size, and its water requirements compared to other plants. For example, a large tree may be classified as having low water use requirements if it requires a low amount of water compared to most other large trees. This list is not intended to restrict what plants residents choose to plant in their yards, and this list may include plant species that may not survive or prosper in certain desert microclimates such as those with lower elevations or higher temperatures. In addition, this list is not intended to be a list of the only plants allowed in the region, nor is it intended to be an exhaustive list of all desert-appropriate plants capable of surviving in the region. This list was created with the intention to help residents, businesses, and landscapers make informed decisions on which plants to landscape that are water conscious and appropriate for specific environmental conditions. Lake Havasu City does not require the use of any or all plants found on this list. List Characteristics This list is divided between trees, shrubs, groundcovers, vines, succulents and perennials. -

List of Approved Non-Indigenous Plants Allowed ONLY in the Private Zone or Semi-Private Zone. X.3. List of Prohibited Plants Prohibited for any location on a residential Lot. X.1. LIST OF APPROVED INDIGENOUS PLANTS. Approved Indigenous Plants may be used in any of the Landscape Zones on a residential lot. The number of species documented among the 10 physiographic regions recognized ranges from 38 in the Laguna de Mayrán to 91 in the Sierras y Llanuras Coahuilenses. The individual species occupy from one to 10 regions (x̄ = 3.5). The numbers of species that occupy individual regions range from 23 in the Sierras y Llanuras Coahuilenses to only one in each of three different regions. A Coeffcient of Biogeographic Resemblance (CBR) matrix indicates numbers of shared species among the 10 physiographic regions ranging from 20 between Llanuras de Coahuila y Nuevo León and Gran Sierra Plegada to 45 between Serranías del Burro and Sierras y Llanuras Coahuilenses. A similarity dendrogram based on the Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Averages (UPGMA) reveals that the Llanuras de Coahuila y Nuevo León region is most dissimilar when compared to the other nine regions in Coahuila (48.0 % similarity); all nine other regions cluster together at 57.0% and the highest similarity is 92.0% between Laguna de Mayrán and Sierra de la Paila. -
