The meeting reviewed the Constitution and Terms of Reference. Wadah Perpustakaan Bil.1, Januari 2020 1 BLA MEETINGS BLA Telegram Account On 13 December 2019, BLA opened a channel to connect and better inform members of our activities and to broadcast news updates. 21 December 2019 2nd BLA Coop Protem Committee Meeting completed reviewing of the Constitution and discussed possible income generating activities. 8 January 2020 The 1 st meeting of the year 2020 was chaired by Pn Hjh Nellie at the Food Court, Gadong Properties. The meeting discussed BLA forthcoming activities. ANNUAL NATION WIDE GATHERING OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS 2019 The one day event organized by the Schools Department MOE was held on 2 December 2019 at Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre. FIRST CYBER DEFENCE & INFORMATION ASSURANCE COURSES TO RECEIVE CILIP ACCREDITATION 09 December 2019 Posted by: Helen Berry, CILIP Workforce Development Manager CILIP is delighted to announce that Cyber Defence & Information Assurance Masters and Postgraduate Diploma courses at Cranfield University have become the first of their kind to receive CILIP accreditation, recognising their solid preparation for professional practice and a suitable base for anybody entering the information sector. At the institution’s assessment visit on 4th December 2019, the programmes were added to the current offer of the Information Capability Management Masters by the Department. As with our information and knowledge Learning Providers, these degrees have been judged against the Professional Knowledge and Skills Base tool (PKSB) and demonstrate the breadth of experience and attributes required for a skilled information professional in the security sector”. Independent assessor, Ann Hindson, praised the interesting mixture of delivery methods, teaching materials and assignments which allow students to understand theories and then apply them to real world examples in a very fast changing subject area. Ross Harris, Information & Cyber Programme Director said “Information is a strategic asset, the value of which needs to be understood by organisations so that that it can be used to its full advantage. As a strategic asset its value is recognised by a range of stakeholders and with this come a variety of cyber threats. At the institution’s assessment visit on 11th November 2019, the programmes were added to the current offer of accredited degrees from the Department. CILIP’S FIRST THAI ACCREDITATION AT CHULALONGKORN UNIVERSITY, BANGKOK 21 October 2019 Posted by: Gus MacDonald CILIP is delighted to announce that two courses at Chulalongkorn University have been awarded CILIP accreditation, recognising that they provide solid preparation for professional practice and a suitable base for anybody entering the library, information and knowledge management professions. The Master of Arts in Information Studies (in English) and the Bachelor of Arts in Information Studies (in Thai) have gained formal CILIP accreditation following the institution’s assessment visit on 17th October. Our first accredited provider in the ASEAN region, Chulalongkorn University is an important addition to a growing global network of renowned learning providers that offer quality assurance for learners pursuing a career in the library, information and knowledge professions.” Chulalongkorn University (CU) is a public and autonomous university originally founded in 1899 and established as a national university in 1917. It is the oldest institute of higher education in Thailand and has been ranked number 1 for the last seven years. In 1979, the Division of Library Science was renamed Department of Library Science. The Department of Library Science offers three degrees all in the field of Information Studies -- Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy. VISTORS TO CLASS OF 64 LIBRARY On 9 January 2002, Class of 64 Library welcomed a visit from seven Officers of the Information Department led by Aw. Mohammad Hisyam bin Idris.
