The Party wholly supported the efforts of groups such as Ecoivy and DAIA and has huge admiration for the knowledge and dedication shown by these local people in their fight to stop the incinerator and protect their local communities. Ivybridge is one of the safest places to live in the UK and yet there has been a lot in the local press lately relating to anti social behaviour in the town. Our young people are often blamed for causing a nuisance and yet the majority of them simply want to hang out with their mates being sociable. In the future they could find this increasingly difficult due to the use of dispersal orders by the police. Such orders can be used to move groups of 2 or more people on from a certain area if they are believed to be causing anti-social behaviour. However, this just moves the youngsters from A to B and doesn’t really solve anyone’s problem. The dropping of litter, underage drinking and criminal damage cannot be condoned and clearly require police attention but Green Councillor Katie Reville getting the South Devon Green Party would like to see much greater stuck into clearing out Woodlands Park dialogue between our authorities and our young people.
