THURSDAY 30 AUGUST Blazin’ Fiddles with Karen Matheson

Scotland’s most celebrated fiddle band Blazin’ Fiddles will join together with the remarkable vocalist Karen Matheson for a special one-off Scottish tour.

Each member of Blazin’ Fiddles draws the distinct flavour of music from their part of the Highlands and Islands. Blending solo and ensemble sets, ages with the occasional insightful tale, they come together in a fiery blend to excite your senses. Fiddlers Jenna Reid, Bruce MacGregor, Rua Macmillan and Kristan Harvey are joined by Anna Massie on guitar/fiddle and Angus Lyon on piano to deliver a musically intoxicating evening for all.

As a solo performer, Karen Matheson has been involved in various projects of collaboration worldwide, produced four acclaimed solo albums, and has also enjoyed a stellar career with Capercaillie.

FRIDAY 28 SEPTEMBER Walking with Heroes

This centenary tour is a series of concerts across Scotland in 2018 by the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, entitled ‘Walking with Heroes’.

The programme of music will include works by such iconic composers as Holst (Mars), Shostakovich (Festive Overture), John Williams (Liberty Fanfare) and Karl Jenkins (Stabat Mater) in commemoration of 100 years since the end of The Great War.

These will sit alongside new compositions and arrangements made especially for the series and the accompanying recording, as well as a host of soloists and features including, of course, traditional Scottish fare and the unmistakable skirl of the pipes!
