Moirang was a culturally rich kingdom and was considered ‘a land of legends’. Among the Presenter’sWelcome famous nine incarnation folk stories of Moirang, the romantic story of Khamba-Thoibi is still prominently remembered till today by people in Manipur and surrounding places. The city is also famous for the majestic ancient temple of the Meitie deity, ‘Ebuthou Thangjing’. The culture of ancient Moirang contributes towards the bulk of Manipuri literature and folklore. With its rich cultural heritage, Moirang still stands grandeur. During World War II, Moirang was the headquarters of Azad Hind Fauj. Colonel Malik of the Indian National Army (INA) hoisted the Tricolour for the first time on Indian soil on April 14, 1944, at Moirang. A memorial complex for INA with the statue of Subash Chandra Bose is erected at Moirang for remembrance. The museum here displays some wartime relics and photographs too. Moirang is situated beside the beautiful fresh water lake ‘Loktak Lake’, which is rich in flora & marine lives, and is considered to be one of the prominent locations for bio- tourism worldwide. It is the home to the endangered deer ‘Sangai’ (which is protected under World Wildlife Fund and lives only on the floating thick layers of water planktons ‘Phumdi’ in Loktak Lake) at the renowned wide-life sanctuary ‘Keibul Lamjao National Park’ located in Moirang.

    UNICEF support to the COVID-19 surge in India as part of the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) The reach and capacity of the cold chain system in India is strengthened to sustain the massive COVID- 19 vaccine drive • UNICEF has worked at the request of MoHFW to augment the cold chain network across the country since third quarter of 2020. In preparation of the launch of vaccination drive, additional cold chain equipment, such as a Walk-In Cold Rooms (WIC), Walk-In Freezer Rooms (WIF), fridges and deep freezers were procured to enhance vaccine storage at all levels. Vaccine transportation passive devices (cold box/vaccine carriers) were also procured to support the vaccination rollout. • The vaccine rollout was launched nationwide on the 16th of January 2021, with priority to Health Care Workers, Frontline Workers and people aged 60 years and above. On 1st April 2021, vaccination was made available to those above the age of 45. Over 156 million vaccine doses have been administered as of 1st May 2021, Day 106 of the vaccination campaign, making India the country with the fastest vaccination scale up in the world. • As of May 1st, vaccine eligibility has been expanded to all above the age of 18. With this expansion and to support equitable access to vaccination even in remote areas, UNICEF will/ plans to further augment bulk storage sites by providing additional equipment (WIC/WIF) along with Solar Direct Drive (SDD) Fridges for remote locations with limited power supply. • Current COVID-19 vaccines in use in India are freeze sensitive.

    F.No.9-3/2013-S&F Government of India Ministry of Culture S&F Section ***** Dated the 9th September, 2013 MINUTES OF TWENTY FIFTH MEETING OF THE EXPERT COMMITTEE UNDER THE CULTURAL FUNCTIONS GRANT SCHEME (CFGS) HELD ON 2 ND , 3 RD AND 16 TH JULY 2013. The 25 th meeting of the above Expert Committee was held on 2 nd , 3 rd and 16 th July 2013 under the Chairmanship of Ms. Arvind Manjeet Singh, Joint Secretary to consider the proposals for financial assistance under CFGS. A list of the members who attended the meeting is annexed. 2. The Expert Committee considered 531 applications and which were complete and supported with all documents as required under the Scheme. The Committee examined each and every proposal individually before taking decision and recommended the following 264 proposals tabulated below for financial assistance under the scheme. The committee further recommeded that the organizations who have already conducted the programme/festivals/ Seminar/exhibitions etc. as submitted by them in project proposal, (marked * in the table) the expert committee has recommended the grant subject to the condition that the amount will be released after submission of the proof of the event having taken place within 40 days of the Minutes uploaded on website of the Ministry indiaculture.nic.in . The organizations (marked # in the table) have to submit the date/dates on which the programme/festival/Seminar/Exhibitions etc. is proposed to be conducted within 40 days of the Minutes uploaded on website of the Ministry indiaculture.nic.in .
