It is hard to believe that it is 10 years since we staged the first ABAs, which were attended by 440 executives. I remember our first emcee, Charles Osgood of CBS News, announcing the very first Stevie® Award winner — it was Domino’s Pizza. The ABAs have grown every year. We have successfully started and grown three other Stevie Awards competitions — The International Business Awards, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. And I’m hopeful that we will soon be able to announce the very first edition of a national Stevie Awards program in another nation. To celebrate our 10th anniversary we introduced many new aspects to our programs this year. Chief among them are the introduction of Silver and Bronze Stevie Award trophies, our new Best of the ABA prizes, and America Means Business, a three-day celebration of entrepreneurship offering education about how to start and grow a business, which we staged in New York City on June 13 –15. The aspect of our awards programs of which I am most proud is our judging system and the number and quality of judges we work with each year. This year’s American Business Awards were adjudicated by more than 270 professionals nationwide, all of whom are recognized in this program. -
