  • Nitrate Levels in the Surface Waters Collected in 2005 from Intertidal and Urban Drainages of the West Part of Peninsular Malaysia
International Journal of Hydrology Research Article Open Access Nitrate levels in the surface waters collected in 2005 from intertidal and urban drainages of the west part of Peninsular Malaysia Abstract Volume 4 Issue 2 - 2020 The intertidal and urban waters of west Peninsular Malaysia are interesting area for ecotoxicological studies because they receive wastes due to agricultural, municipal and Chee Kong Yap,1 Wan Hee Cheng,2 Bin Huan industrial wastes along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Surface water samplings Pang,1 Fairuz Md Suptian,1 Shih Hao Tony were conducted from the intertidal coastal waters and from urban rivers/drainages from Peng,3 Mohd Hafiz Ibrahim,1 Chee Wah Yap,4 northern to southern parts of the west coastal areas of Peninsular Malaysia between January Moslem Sharifinia,5 Alireza Riyahi Bakhtiari,6 and April 2005. These nitrate levels in the south western part ranged from 0.33-0.56mg/L Salman Abdo Al-Shami,7 Chee Seng Leow,8 while those in the north western part ranged from 0.11 to 1.91mg/L. These nitrate levels Mohamad Saupi Ismail9 in these intertidal waters were much lower than those found for urban drainages (0.45 to 1 2.27mg/L) of Peninsular Malaysia. Overall, the mean values for the nitrate concentrations Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia (mg/L) follow: Urban drainages (1.04)>north western intertidal (0.79)>south western 2Inti International University, Persiaran Perdana BBN, Malaysia intertidal (0.43). The results showed the occurrence of nitrate contamination in the urban 3All Cosmos Bio-Tech Holding Corporation, Malaysia area due to human-induced activities such as domestic wastes.

  • Tanjung Pura” As the Tourism Asset in Langkat District
Journal of Engineering Research and Education Volume 10, 2018 [101-110] The Conservation of the Old City “Tanjung Pura” as the Tourism Asset in Langkat District Meyga Fitri Handayani Nasution1* and Arjuna Pangeran2 1,2Jurusan Teknik Arsitektur Fakultas Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan, Institut Teknologi Medan. Tanjung Pura, formerly was the capital of Malay Sultanate of Langkat, had various cultural heritages of Malay Sultanate and Dutch colonial. The diversity of cultural heritage objects in Tanjung Pura such as the historical buildings possess great potential as tourism assets in Tanjung Pura. Therefore, the conservation efforts are very much needed to avoid the old town Tanjung Pura from becoming only as a history. The special target of this research is the conservation of the region in Tanjung Pura as an architectural and cultural tourism asset. The results of the research are the design concept, conservation concept, design of the area, and documentation (such as photos and pictures of the historical buildings) using a design program. The result of the measurements and sketches in the area obtained using the design program, analysis and design concepts for the area will be used as a tourist object attraction. Keywords: City of Tanjung Pura, Conservation, Tourism Architecture. 1. INTRODUCTION Issues about the conservation of historical areas, especially in the old town have been done by many countries in this world such as Japan, Netherland, Singapore, and others. For example, in the beginning, Singapore had replaced buildings and historical areas with new appearance of modernization. However, the small number of tourists that come to Singapore made the government return back the historical city’s look such as Kampung Melayu, Little India, and China Town.

Dahlan ([email protected]) ([email protected]) ([email protected]) Dept. Computational Sociology Dept. Computational Sociology Dept. Evolutionary Economics Bandung Fe Institute Bandung Fe Institute Bandung Fe Institute Abstract The archipelagic geography and demography of Indonesian people due to the way people serve food and drinks on the table is analyzed. Statistically some properties about the food recipes are observed, while the analysis is followed by the methodology to see the clustering of the food and beverage due to their ingredients. The global mapping of all the food yields four classes of the food that is related to the way people conventionally prepare the cuisines, whether the recipes are on vegetables, fish and seafood, chicken and poultry, and meats. It is obvious that ingredient wise, the diversity of the food is emerged from traditional ways adding spices and herbs. For more insights, the analysis for food dressings and traditional drinks are also delivered. While the mappings exhibit the classes of food and beverages based on the purposes and styles of the service in the cuisines, some signatures of regional localities are also detected. Keywords: food, culinary, diversities, clustered map, memetics, phylomemetic tree, hierarchical clustered tree.
