The main bus terminus is in Valletta from where buses operate to all parts of Malta, although there are also direct, point to point, services. The cost of a bus route ranges from 47 to 57 euro cents. The longest bus journey takes about fifty min- utes; the average ride is between 20 and 30 minutes. Driving Driving is on the left. There is a speed limit of 80kms per hour on arterial roads and 40kph in urban areas. Boat Hire Canoes, rowing boats, sailing boats, ped- alos and speedboats are available for hire from a number of operators in the more popular seaside resorts. This is the regular inspection ofthe fort and garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re-enactment the fort's garrison (some 70 in all) is dressed in its best uniforms to demonstrates to the Grand Bailiff its military prowess. The duration of the show is of roughly 40 minutes. u Fort St. Elmo, Valletta º 1 & 8 November, 11am. Tickets: €5 adults, €3 children between the ages or 6 and 12. v All Buses ¤ 29915540, 21237747 ALARME The 50 minute re-enactment portrays military skirmishes between Maltese militia and Napoleon’s troops aided by a narration that describes the historical background of 1798 - 1800. The re-enactment unfolds in a series of dramatized scenes that depict the arrival of the French, their administration of Malta, the Maltese’ rebellion and the arrival of the British Troops that led to the French surrender. The re-enact- ments are held according to schedule, however, in case of inclement weather or else due to some unforeseen circumstance the event may be cancelled without undue notice. This hidden gem, offers the public an opportunity to explore the way and life of the cloistered Carmelite friars in the 17th century. Among a number of rooms to explore, the quarters include a beautifully frescoed refectory. A courtyard breathes light onto the Maltese stonework of the surrounding cloisters, which connect the priory to the church. The Carmelite Church and Priory boast of impressive painting, sculpture, and architecture. The Carmelite Priory also holds a series of stimulating events planned in its cultural calendar relating to spirituality, art, literature and music. You may also treat yourself to a light lunch and tea at the Old Priory Café, and spoil your friends with a choice of Maltese artisan products to be found at the gift shop.
