GMS Value Chain Strategy and Siem Reap Action Plan 2018-2022
Strategy for Promoting Safe and Environment-Friendly Agro-Based Value Chains in the Greater Mekong Subregion and Siem Reap Action Plan, 2018–2022 As the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) has made considerable progress in food security, addressing health, safety, and environmental concerns is also essential. The strategy and action plan will strengthen the commitment to food security, increase market access for small producers, and ensure inclusive food safety for the GMS. It aims at achieving the GMS vision of being a leading global supplier of safe and environment- friendly agriculture products through four pillars: policies, infrastructure, knowledge, and marketing. About the Core Agriculture Support Program The Core Agriculture Support Program (CASP) supports the GMS in attaining its goal of being a leading producer of safe food using climate-friendly agriculture practices. Now on its second phase, since 2012, it is committed to increasing the subregion’s agricultural competitiveness through enhanced regional and global market integration and subregional connectivity. CASP is overseen by the agriculture ministries of the six GMS countries comprising the GMS Working Group on Agriculture. Cofinancing is provided by the Asian Development Bank, the Government of Sweden, the Nordic Development Fund, and the Water Financing Partnership Facility. About the Asian Development Bank ADB’s vision is an Asia and Pacific region free of poverty. Its mission is to help its developing member countries reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of their people. Despite the region’s many successes, it remains home to a large share of the world’s poor. ADB is committed to reducing poverty through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration. -

Tijdschrift voor Entomologie 160 (2017) 89–138 An initial survey of aquatic and semi-aquatic Heteroptera (Insecta) from the Cardamom Mountains and adjacent uplands of southwestern Cambodia, with descriptions of four new species Dan A. Polhemus Previous collections of aquatic Heteroptera from Cambodia have been limited, and the biota of the country has remained essentially undocumented until the past several years. Recent surveys of aquatic Heteroptera in the Cardamom Mountains and adjacent Kirirom and Bokor plateaus of southwestern Cambodia, coupled with previous literature records, demonstrate that 11 families, 35 genera, and 68 species of water bugs occur in this area. These collections include 13 genus records and 37 species records newly listed for the country of Cambodia. The following four new species are described based on these recent surveys: Amemboa cambodiana n. sp. (Gerridae); Microvelia penglyi n. sp., Microvelia setifera n. sp. and Microvelia bokor n. sp. (all Veliidae). Based on an updated checklist provided herein, the aquatic Heteroptera biota of Cambodia as currently known consists of 78 species, and has an endemism rate of 7.7%, although these numbers should be considered provisional pending further sampling. Keywords: Heteroptera; Cambodia; water bugs; new species; new records Dan A. Polhemus, Department of Natural Sciences, Bishop Museum, 1525 Bernice Street, Honolulu, HI 96817 USA. Cambodia: Comfrel's Report on Irregularities in Voter List Revision
Cambodia: Comfrel’s Report on Irregularities in Voter List Revision and Voter Registration During the process of voter list revision and voter registration for 2007, lasting from September 15 to October 20, 2007, COMFREL has deployed around 200 observers to observe in 400 communes/sangkats across 24 provinces/cities.1 In general, COMFREL observes that both the political and security environment have been improved, although some voters used to or have felt concerns about insecurity, as in previous pre-national election periods. COMFREL highly appreciates the efforts of the National Election Committee (NEC) and officials at all levels, especially village and commune authorities, who have been carrying out voter list revision and voter registration. In some communes, clerks and councils have worked together to create mobile registration working groups to register voters in villages. However, COMFREL observes that the speed of voter registration this year is slower than that of last year. According to NEC temporary results, dated September 28, 2007, by September 26, 2007, in 1,608 communes/sangkats across 24 provinces/cities, the number of newly registered voters was 233,776, which represents 34% of the NEC estimate of 682,459. For the same period in 2006, the rate of voter registration was 47% (273,477 of an estimated 577,205 new voters to be registered). Meanwhile, COMFREL has doubts about the NEC’s unclear estimation on the number of voters to be registered, as the NEC made a wrong estimation number of new voters to be registered in 2006 (estimating around 570,000 new voters while in reality the number had increased to 1.2 million). -

Note: For the initial version of this document, we used the webpage of Cambodia Post that gives the ZIP codes of all sangkats of the city of Phnom Penh. However, a reader of Khmerologie let a message stating that our document was not up to date. After verification, we have discovered that the website of Cambodia Post does not take into account the reorganization of the administrative divisions of Phnom Penh that occurred in 2019. For the updated version of this document, we used the database published on the website of the NCDD (National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development), which is part of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
