MCM is committed to giving children access to quality STEM-based experiences through innovative exhibits, engaging programs, and interactive special events. MCM seeks to foster early interest in STEM subjects while also helping children develop critical thinking and communication skills, creativity, and real-world problem solving.

In addition, MCM has worked to develop strong community partnerships with industry leaders throughout Mississippi to be able to connect children in tangible ways not just to the kinds of learning that they will need to be explore the successful in school, but also to help them multitude of STEM-related career possibilities that exist. UNEXPECTED METHODS SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

FACES For Madeleine Wiggs and Emily Kruse, there is only one place to be on Thursday nights in October—at MCM. The two members ofthe MCM Youth Ambassadors Council (YAC) volunteer for the Planting the Seeds to Read family literacy program by helping OF MCM serve dinner and working with children during the activities.

“This is my second Planting the Seeds to Read,” Wiggs says, while Kruse has volunteered for three evenings with another scheduled. “It’s my favorite thing to do,” Kruse explains. “I know that it’s good to just be here and be ready to lend a hand, but it’s good to have a job that you’re doing something really helpful.”

The Junior League of Jackson (JLJ) established the Forget-Me-Not Fund to create In World at Work, which is MCM’s gallery that focuses on industry in Mississippi, a reserve for MCM to sustain it as an educational and inspirational resource for a redesign already is underway.
